they arent dumb, most likely they are defending it because they did it and are now scared of rollbacks. I get it, its disgusting behavior imo, but i do get it.
Sorry bud, this aint no snowflake college campus to flex your Minor in Sign Making Studies.
People like you are where the toxicity comes from in this community.
It was NEVER benificial to do this in classing, it was NEVER working this way in classic, it was NEVER bugged like this in classic, no one EVER leveled like this in classic. Quit lying to yourself and making it sound like people thought that this was some undiscovered super leveling strategy. IT WAS AN EXPLOIT THROUGH AND THROUGH.
So by that logic it was perfectly legitimate until blue text said otherwise.
That doesn’t really work. So I ask again - what’s the line between “most efficient” and “exploit”?
Imagine the consequences of what you’re saying, if any perfectly legitimate way to play the game could be retroactively classified as an exploit and thus warrant punishments to everyone who used it. It is absolutely unusual for people to be running 10 players in 5 player dungeons. It is also a thing that existed throughout Vanilla and was even a point of discussion long before Beta. Don’t act like people never once in 15 years thought about running dungeons with 10 people.
Was people 1-tanking Za’qul an exploit? It was clearly unintended and they took steps to change that. Should everyone who 1-tanked Za’qul be banned? Should people even try strategies that change the usual group composition for raids if it means they run a very real risk of being banned.
I want some arguments that don’t boil down to “I didn’t take advantage of this and now I’m mad and you’re an idiot.”
Do you have proof that this wasn’t in Classic? When I heard about people forming raids for SM I thought oh wow that’s pretty smart never thought of that in 15 years of playing WoW. We were all pretty dumb back then.
Posting a hotfix on a Sunday afternoon on a holiday weekend. That’s commitment. Thank you so much.
No change huh? weird…
Except I did take advantage of this, and think the people that went to far should be punished. You are confusing like other people are, the difference between intended and possible. It was possible to 10 man dungeons, but it wasn’t intended, and it definitely wasn’t intended to BE BETTER.
Za’qul wasn’t intended to be anything, because nothing warned you of otherwise, the game literally tells you raids are worse for xp and quests. If you pulled Za’qul and it said “solo tanking this is intended to be harder” and it wasn’t, you better believe it would be an exploit.
You’re just scared that there’s a chance ActivisionBlizzard has integrity and won’t let exploiters get away with cheating.
It’s LITERALLY an exploit. The raid exp was 300% what it was in Vanilla.
This is what I’m talking about. There are so many bugs in classic that will be used to give a player an advantage over another one who doesn’t know about it. Seriously, just think about how many in game mechanics that give a player in the know an advantage. Classic is just like that.
This would be the right thing to do, but with ActivisionBlizzard running things, the only way to really get them to fix it is probably to cancel sub.
big oof right here
i got to try this last night and at no point did i ever feel like this was an exploit. i seen people 10 manning it for faster clears but less xp gained per mob. anyone saying that people knowingly exploited probably were too low level to get into SM anyways. now layer hopping that feels like an exploit good luck fixing that.
In fairness, as underinformed as we were back in Vanilla, finding ways to make leveling more efficient was a pretty widespread goal. Lots of mods and guides came out of it, as well as illicit services, etc. People trying to catch up their late-arrival friends was also a big deal.
I doubt this was in Vanilla, I’m sure it would have been discovered.
So you admit to “exploiting”, but you shouldn’t be banned - other people should be based on… what metric, exactly?
So if the game literally told you that solo-tanking Za’qul should be more difficult than duo-tanking and it turned out that it wasn’t, should all of the raid teams that solo tanked him get banned? Should Za’qul get fixed or left in his “exploitable” state?
Yeah let’s fix this after everyone abused this to 60 lol
Can ActivisionBlizzard please ban these exploiters for at least several days? This was literally cheating and all trade channels were spammed with people making raid groups to cheat. The exploit literally gave these people 300% exp in a raid group compared to what they should have been getting.
There was a mistake, they fixed it. Move on.
