Teamviewer, bub. Free, safe, high-quality software with desktop and mobile versions. Want to play at 6pm when you get home but rolled on a high pop server with crazy queue times? Open your phone and jump in queue at 3pm, takes 30 seconds to do.
It doesn’t take rocket science to start figuring out simple solutions to your own problems.
Sulfuras was the back up PvP East server to Skeram so many guilds and friends including my own are now split between these 2 realms. Sulfuras has long Q times during peak so I’m not sure why this realm isn’t even given an option to transfer off to Earthfury as well so everyone has the option to play together without rerolling their level 50 characters.
These restrictions are going to deter people from transferring off so it won’t fix the Q times and it won’t allow Blizzard to remove layering anytime soon. Maybe Blizzard is playing it safe, but every high pop server including Sulfuras should be able to move to any low population if you want to a lot of people move.
But importantly, as great as Classic is, the long term of health of this game or any game for that matter, is playing with your friends or guilds and people are older now with more responsibilities. Some took time off work and won’t reinvest 150 hours and counting to reroll. The launch day was horrific and it split guilds, friends, and communities and Blizzard’s restrictions as to who goes where doesn’t help this.
We would even pay transfer fees to play with our friends on low population servers as being together is most important for the long term or many of us will just unsub which isn’t what we want to do. But when we all hit 60 and realize not being altogether really sucks, we will eventually lose interest as we don’t have the time to do this all over again.
This really is a win win for Blizzard. Lift restrictions on who can go where, allow friends to reunite on low population servers, fix server balance, and keep people interest and paying for a long time.
I planned to roll on Herod, when Blizz announced that long queues were EXPECTED, I moved to Stalagg. First and second day of the game me and my friends realized that Stalagg would be a high crowded server as well, so we leave all our level 10ish toons there and moved to one of the new realms. And now, we are all happy and well level 25ish in a healthy server.
In conclussion. If you stood in a SUPER FULL server, what do you expect to happend? And now that you can move out of it to a no-queue server, you don’t want to…
Then you literally have no legs to stand on if you complain about a queue. This is how free transfers were handled in Vanilla. You don’t get to pick. You either take the transfer or take your queue. It just feels like you enjoy complaining for complaining’s sake.
It´s especially depressing as many of us tried to avoid streamers by moving to realms where they don´t play and now they can just invade our realms and harass us.
We all know that the toxicity on servers with private server / stream fanboys is high, so why mix us with them.
I would think that would be rare. The type of people who were able to beat the queues and played enough to get to 60 or close to it in a week are not likely going anywhere, but rather sticking with where they rolled. You’re getting a bunch of people stuck in the 10-40 range who have been delayed significantly due to queues…hence why they want off in the first place.
Players: My guild members paid extra prior to launch to roll on Stalagg like Blizzard asked us to avoid the queue. The obvious demand for PvP East servers was ignored so all of them, including Stalagg, had queues and the guild rerolled and rerolled and rerolled trying to stay one step ahead and couldn’t. Some members are now on a Normal realm due to lack of alternatives. We’re tired of rerolling and it hasn’t solved our problems anyway. Please allow us to transfer so we can get the guild back together on a PvP East server.
Blizzard: Okay, you can transfer your Stalagg characters to the streamer overflow server. Everyone else has to stay put.
Players: Yeah, that doesn’t work for me.
Fanboy trolls: They gave you transfers, why aren’t you happy? Just reroll!
Add Sulfuras to the list of servers to transfer from please. it was one of the first extra servers added and frequently has queues. I’ll gladly transfer off of it.
Either this works or they lose subscriptions by the minute. Either way, the queue problem gets solved. This is the best anyone should have hoped for and it will indeed be effective to reduce queues. Faerlina and a couple others still may have queues, but they should be much better. That’s the most you can hope for on a mega server. So if you aren’t ok with it, be one of the ones to move and not sit there expecting others to do the moving so you don’t have a queue. Newsflash, you will still have a queue.
They had it in Vanilla, but it was not a net positive. Reputation should stick. We also lost good folks from our server when they opened paid transfers up. I remember one particular undead mage who had 10k+ DHKs and would always be in IF. He was a real character on the server and on the forums. As soon as they opened up transfers, he left to play with friends. Our server lost something special that day. Paid transfers should not be in Classic. If you want to play on a friend’s server, go reroll.
