We won’t. Classic is largely played by retail migrants who don’t care about the authenticity of vanilla and would much prefer a instanced, sharded, and hyper personalized emulated experience than actually playing the game.
That’s real sad man.
Yeah man, you’re the only one who gets it. You’re the one true classic player.
Self report.
I don’t know if it’s “retail migrants”, but there is a very specific crowd that seems to be catered to by these devs, and yes that crowd is self-focused and they don’t play for things like the open world which I agree is a huge part of what Vanilla was about.
I genuinely wonder how many people who asked for Classic in the first place, especially those who pined for it to feel authentic, are still around at all.
Those who have been constantly fed and continue to be the “pet audience” of these devs have stuck around, those who haven’t have left for other pastures. This fresh should have been the place to bring those who left back, but doing stuff like this layering change is only there for the ones who were here the whole time wanting the same self-focused things.
To themselves they don’t feel like retail players since they’ve played Classic for 5 years now.
Slowly realizing on pservers we didn’t escape modern version of the game, but the modern WoW player. It made the experience feel so much better to have people just playing for the experience and not their own personal gain, because at any moment it could vanish.
The majority of Classic players are the type of players we were escaping.
This layering isnt working anyway, it’s consistently been 1:10 alliance to horde in nearly every zone.
I can confidently say after giving this a try, this new system is not working well. Give us 1 layer, or don’t layer swap us infinity like what’s been happening.
After seeing this in action, it’s terrible. You can’t do large scale PvP anymore. You try to get a raid going and half the raid gets layered away. Even when the game shows you’re on the same layer, you actually aren’t.
It’s basically the same as sharding and it doesn’t feel good at all.
Please just go back to layering without the “sublayers” or shards.
Yup, this happened saturday night when we were going to SS from UC. What was supposed to be a fun, planned event, turned into a massive waste of time.
This needs attention honestly.
There are quite a few posts besides this as well. We don’t want to be sharded and layered within the layers that already exist. Just give us normal across the world layers, but stop trying to layer individual zones.
What’s it gonna take for us to just get rid of layering? It sucks.
Everyone I have spoken with in game hates the layering on Nightslayer. The WPvP experience is awful…even the general chat is restricted to each layer.
You’ve taken the best things about Classic Wow and turned it into some lame lobby shooter or single player rpg.
I’m still wondering how blizzard expects us to do world bosses with this system. It’s going to be impossible to keep your raid on the same layer to kill the boss.
i’m scared to say it, but i think they might try to give us instanced world bosses like on SoD
I was eating…
when it happens I will be here saying my “toldya sos”
people said nothing when it was dual spec…
then they came for the world bosses, and there was no one left to speak up…
Yes, I not only called it further up in the thread but spoke against it when it was put in for SoD (even though I didn’t play SoD, but I was worried about bleed-over and I have enough foresight to see how how things will play out). Not that Blizzards pet audience of those who flip between whatever WoW version Blizzard puts out and only care about themselves and getting gear drops will care.
Anyway here’s my post from further up:
lol I just saw a video of a guy who was killing open world mobs, and a green hood dropped. He was making room in his inventory (bags full) and in that 10 seconds it took him to do that, he got layer swapped or sharded in his zone and the loot vanished. Wow how fun.
Happened again, this is so lame
