There is already an addon for Retail called ClassicUI on curse and I really like it, even if it results in a slightly borked UI - but I can read the chat and I know where my buttons are, so I take that as a win.

Thanks, I know that one it delivers, and I used it in BfA when they changed the layout. I do not play Retail any more. Sadly what I am looking for is an - or more - addons to turn back the changes to the UI in Classic.

This patch is a trash heap. It’s significantly less fun to play the game now. I hate that Blizzard chose to do this to Classic and I have already started looking into pservers.

There is so much hype around Classic right now from a fanbase genuinely interested in the game, but now it’s not as fun to play it. It’s unbelievably frustrating that this patch introduced so many major issues and bugs. Nobody appreciates the entire codebase shifting with it’s UI changes and retail options. Nobody is having as much fun as before, and all the bugs undermines the fun people are trying to have with the release of hardcore and the new pvp system.

So frustrated and disappointed with Blizz on this one. My biggest worry is that since there are so many big and little things broken, Blizz will never truly fix all of it and we’ll just have a watered down version of classic WoW forever. In addition, many classic addon creators no longer update their addons and so many of the addons people used could never come back.

Horrible. And seemingly completely unnecessary.
