It’s been awesome seeing all the excitement building around WoW Classic and the play-at-home demo we released as part of the BlizzCon Virtual Ticket. So awesome, in fact, that we’d like to keep the party going for a few more days!
We’ve extended the duration of the WoW Classic Demo to last through the weekend, ending at 10 AM Pacific time on Monday, November 12. That should give you plenty of time to track down those remaining Zhevra Hooves, or finish cooking up some Westfall Stew.
We hope you’re enjoying the WoW Classic Demo and can’t wait to share the full game with you next summer!
Thank you. Is there any way you'd consider leaving it available indefinitely? Or at least until beta? Or maybe through the end of the year? I have not enjoyed WoW for many years, and this demo is just so much fun! It is Vanilla again! WoW is
fun again!
And my kids are playing with me now. They have not had any interest in the post-wrath WoW, and weren't really old enough to play prior to Wrath. So this is their first exposure to the REAL WoW. And they love it. My 10-year-old was fighting murlocs with me on the beach when he rolled his mouse over the water and saw the cursor turn to a cog. He waded in under water and found a treasure chest. Well, he lost all interest in helping me with the murlocs and only wanted to open the chest.
Later, after his turn playing WoW was over and his younger brother was playing with one of his older brothers, my 10-year-old couldn't stop talking about the treasure chest he'd found. And about the loot. Which was just grey and white items. No greens even. But it was just the whole thing... adventuring out in a dangerous world (yes, the Vanilla world is dangerous) and finding an abandoned, battered chest. My kids have literally never experienced WoW, other than watching me play it years ago.
Please leave the demo up for a while. I have a handful of kids, and taking turns means that they each only get to play for a short while, even with two computers going. Waiting until summer for the full game will surely sweeten the experience when they finally get to experience the complete World of Warcraft. But that is an eternity to wait. Even for the kids!
Oh, and my 10-year-old was also asking me about how big the world of Warcraft is. I showed him the map of Westfall and we looked at the tiny slice of it that we'd explored in the 40 or so minutes he got to play (we didn't get far; Vanilla is DANGEROUS and we spent a lot of time as ghosts), and his mind was literally blown. He is SO excited for the untold adventures that await in faraway places he cannot even conceive. Of course, I know what he's in for, having started playing WoW en serio just after patch 1.12 was released in 2006. But he just has no clue.
I simply cannot thank Blizzard enough for this opportunity to re-experience the most enjoyable game I have ever played (no superlative), and to share it with my kids. I have been waiting for this time for literally years.
So please, if it's not too much trouble, could you keep the demo up for a couple of months. At least 'til Jan 1, 2019. That will give us all time to explore all of Westfall, and maybe start into the Barrens, which is 3x to 4x more expansive! We know we'll have to wait for the full game, but an extended demo period will soften the blow of that wait.
Thanks.
Oh, and my opinion is no sharding or loot trading, please. Let's keep Classic "Vanilla."
