Right… Been in classic server for a long while. Official one appeals to me due to less bugs and larger player base.Beta isn’t really beta just advertisement for the game. If they cared for stress testing they would have fired invites to -everyone.- To see real server load. Because name day was clear indication log in servers can not handle large loads.
OK ok . just a little bit of clarification or us all. Name servers are NOT the same thing as the game/world servers. AND there is NO amount of servers you can afford to accept an ingest as big as everyone trying to rush through a small door at once.
The system held up pretty good for what it was achieving. Which a reminder that this has NEVER been done before. Name reservation like this is new to WOW
Ok. . party on and let’s hope things get tested so it’s even more smooth for us come launch!!
Yep. It’s why we’re upset. It’s clearly just a “”""“clever”"""" marketing gimmick. It’s so lame.
But testing things in a live environment and seeing how they respond to load and implementing fixes would be great for helping to ensure things are as smooth as possible on launch day. Because let’s face it, the game hasn’t been this popular or had this kind of load since like Legion.
don’t matter if you deleted them they are premade 40’s
I’m still pretty upset that I was denied my names because it took more than an hour for me to get in, despite the fact that i was in, got a message that said I can’t create characters, then I was 4th in queue, then I was 30th in queue and got the same message, before I ended up in an 11k queue twice.
I’m not a streamer and I was in day 1 along with many of my friends that played with me when WoW released in 2004. The whole “streamers only had beta” is completely inaccurate.
I actually thought I had access to the beta then I realized It was closed after I paid for a month sub. Can I get a refund on this please. It wont even let me open a ticket for it
I got lucky because I wanted to play on the RPPVP server which apparently no one else wants to play on so I managed to snag 3 of the names I wanted.
I completely agree man.
But were things as bad as everyone says?
Some are upset because they did not get a name they wanted. I understand that. But if we back away from that drama and consider the technical aspect we just experienced. It held up very well. We did have hickups on a couple of areas but again so many were trying to log in at once.
Also… this is SO much better than the days of server downtime and ques from back in the day.
Just remember we are doing amazing things server-wide that has not been done before and from my perspective, it’s holding up better than expected. DevOps have done a great job!
You weren’t denied your names. Everyone else dealt with the same issues, and there’s more than one other person out there that wants the name you wanted as well.
The names weren’t yours to be denied against in the first place.
Pretty bad. I bet it sucks as players 40-45 will be full of SM blues.
Considering I was at the character creation screen immediately, I’d say I was denied.
You had a weeks worth of free for all stress testing that ended yesterday.
we got jebaited harder than ghostcrawler promising us a pony
Effing brilliant post, man. Blizzard should let you into to the beta just based on this post alone. /thumbsup
Beta ends
“Waaaaah! Why not test the 40+ stuff!? Waaaaah!”
Beta reopens to level 45
“Waaaaaah! Publicity Stunt, Waaaaah!”
I agree they should. However, the way I am, I would play it and burn myself out on a chatacter that will be delete days later, the time goes towards literally nothing and the excitement would have faded a touch.
So I am happy to count the minutes until release so I can go HAM on a player that I get to keep!
Yea I opened Twitch to find everyone practicing their leveling routes. Is this what you wanted to test? lol!
I never had access to anything like that, so no.
