WoW Cataclysm Mouse not working since TWW pre patch?

As a side, have you seen the eBay prices for this mouse? They are crazy, anywhere from 250-350 dollars.

It’s almost like Blizzard changed how something you like works, and you don’t like it. I sympathize.

I’ve tried this and the keybinds are all messed up what would you recommend?

Yeah that’s been gone for a long time now. I think during WoD.

There’s a difference between something completely breaking or being non-functional and a 5 second inconvenience. And no you don’t.

i mean bro. just move on.

What’s that mean? Also, I had a feeling uninstalling and reinstalling would f it all up and it did. Now, none of the buttons that aren’t specifically mapped work, not just the two on the side of the wheel. (Or maybe they all weren’t working and I just never tried.)

Open the Mouse Settings option from the Steel Series app and rebind all the buttons.
I bound everything to Self Action Buttons under the “Action Button Functions” group and works like it previously did!

Thank you Maarc =)

When I did the keybinds for my Logitech mouse I had to remap mousebuttons to keys on the keyboard, as the game did not recognize their innate mousebutton numbers.

I had to map MB3 and MB4 to F12 and shift-F12. I had to map MB5 and MB6 to NUMPAD + and -. It was irritating at first to get this mapping done when it should have worked natively.

Those all DO work. The problem is that the game doesn’t recognize disable/clear buttons which I used just to hit specific buttons on the bars. The game won’t register those clicking unless they’re bound to say… one of the main action bar buttons instead of “Mouse Button X”

Rebinding finally works !!!

Rebinding the keys previous to today has not worked. I’ve been checking each day since this patch dropped. Today I can confirm that rebinding the keys using the old steel series software finally works.

Your Cataclysm edition mouse still works? Man, mine died years ago. Used to have a Logitech G600. My current mouse is a Corsair Scimitar.

Yes it still works. =) The only other mouse I have ever seen that has multiple buttons at the finger tips (Not the thumb) is the Roccat Tyon. Also an expensive mouse, just like this one.

If the mouse isn’t the thing sending the input to the game, but rather the software, it could be sent via a SendInput call and thus flagged as a bot.

Software flashing the mouse so it has hardware based mapping does not need to worry about this at all. You can usually tell if it’s software versus hardware, as functionality will be lost if you close the KB+M app if the keystrokes are being sent by the software instead of the hardware. Hardware based binds you can close out all your apps and your mouse will retain the functionality, and the keypresses will be seen as coming from said mouse directly.

No mouse software I know of has ever been flagged as a bot. And I’ve used popular brands and generic no names.

It’s how people get banned in various games for making macros in logitech software suite, etc.

Those are issued by the app, with the mouse commanding the app to start the macro.

It’s seen as originating from a program rather than hardware via some flags on a win32 event struct a game can look for.

Do believe this was reported in bug forums and is being looked into

No one is talking about macros. They’re talking about the basic keybinding in the software.

Keybinding mouse software has not triggered their system to ban anyone that I am aware of.

Once again, that isn’t the problem. In fact, it’s always worked. The problem is that the special keys will not work when all you want to do is push them and they’re not assigned to anything on the software which should appear as Disable/Clear. The game does not recognize Mouse Button X like the single button on the right side of the Legendary mouse or the 3 surrounding the wheel.

On that specific mouse, the button to the left of the scroll wheel is 12, the one on the right is 13 the larger one in the center is 14 and the lone button on the right of the whole mouse is 10. If you use bartender4’s assign keybindings feature, clicking with any of them will do nothing.

Found a workaround at least.
