Would you trade dracthyr and evokers for actual dragons?

I know it’s too late but it’s always fun to think of cool ideas.

Like what if we got a dragon class that acted the same as evokers, but instead it was a hero class for all races that gave you specific customization options. Like dragon eyes, optional horns, and optional scales. So you’d for example pick a race like orc or night elf, but would get customization to identify you as a dragon. The draconic eyes being stuck like how dhs and dks have a unique eye type and the other stuff is optional. The race itself would technically be your visage form.

Also for evoker abilities where you do breath attacks you’d turn into a smaller dragon. And even get to stay in a dragon form if you wanted kinda like druids get shapeshift forms. And of course your dragon form would be a unique flying mount and you could customize it.

i posted this under one of my alts in the past, but this was my idea for how dracthyr/evoker should have been done:

for dracthyr, replace it with a pandaria wrathion-esque dragon whelp race, functioning like reverse-worgen; you’d only use your whelp form as a travel form racial (maybe be zesty and let them gather while in their travel form), and would fight as your ‘visage’. your visage would get all the cool aspect customization options like the horns and eyes, without the scaly receeding hairline. also, you get to choose your visage from any of the 8 base races (humans, nelves, dwarves, gnomes, orcs, undead, trolls, tauren), plus maybe pandaren… and give the heritage armor set a pair of wings

for evoker, lean harder into it filling a sorcerer archetype… since all d&d classes currently have an analogue in wow (except artificer aaaAAAAHHH), make evoker that for sorcerer. any race can be an evoker, except when you are one you unlock unique customizations for patches of chromatic scales on your face/body, like draconic bloodline sorcerers in d&d.

just do a little retell of the evoker starting experience, say maybe that the evokers were an experiment by malygos or something, fusing mortals with dragons to make a more stable type of magic user as a solution to mortal mages using too much magic. but he got interrupted by the nexus war so he had to put them all in the demon hunter jello, then he got murdered by the kirin tor so they were forgotten about

might need to retcon how fast dragons grow up from whelps into teenagers, but i think it’d be a hit

I actually really like evoker. More MMO’s need more support focused classes.

No. Sorry not interested in going that far into the Fandom.

i think we shouldnt have any races based on not playing that race.

but

shrug

Tbh I think it would be doable if the dragon form was able to be a permanent thing even in combat just scaled down a bit. All the spells castable with breath attacks and other animations.

Visage too would be able to cast all the spells and abilities too, but having both would be peak class fantasy and dragon fantasy.

Man now I’d wish we’d have gotten that now the more I think of it lol.

I’d be down to just give away Dracthyr and Evoker for free, no payment necessary.

Nah, just give Evokers all race option visages, fix transmog for Dracthyr and also give us playable Drakonid.

If people want to be dragons just give us dragon TF ‘mounts’ like the Sandstone Drake.

No, I prefer the elf form

Would’ve preferred full dragon, but with proper body type 1 and 2 and could wear armor without needing a visage. But Blizzard is Blizzard, so have a nude lizard.

That’d be cool, but I’d rather you could totally hide that you were a dragon.

Personally, what I really want is if they removed the 2nd and 3rd body forms, kept the 1st body size and made the 4th body size the same as a male nathrezim body…

That, I think, would satisfy people who wanted to play as Dragonkin.

Only if they’re forced to be literal whelps, because there’s no shot anyone’s putting up with people casually blocking the visibility of every encounter mechanic and covering every city function they happen to be near because they’re like twice the size of a hunter’s Devilsaur pet by default.

I like my Evoker just the way it is.

I just wish they’d lean more into empowered spells and making them more than a one-tap.

And I like Dracs. Y’all who hate them can suck it! :stuck_out_tongue:

I like dracs too, I’ve got 5 of them lol. Though I still wish we’d have gotten dragons if done right.

I would’ve liked Draconid alongside Dracs, though.

I did an entire long questline to free them from slavery, where they were told to go be who they want wherever they want… and I got nuthin’ out of it.

If I had my way we’d get all three, but then people would get dragon fatigue instead of elf fatigue lol.

Dracthyr were a wonderful addition in Dragonflight and I think they fill the role for Evoker, their original and only class, pretty well. You don’t expect casters to be bulky like the Draconids that people commonly ask for.

I do have things I’d like to see to improve Dracthyr, not only for those of us who already love them, but to make them more appealing to more players:

  • obviously, transmog on the Dracthyr form. Would be a lot of work
  • Shaman
  • Druids
  • Thicker body type to better fit warriors and those who want a more fiercer looking dragon kin race.
  • Define their roles within the Horde and Alliance

I desperately want Dracthyr druid.

yes, dracthyr/evokers are a very lame compromise. if not dragons, drakonid would have been a much better selection. dracthyr feel like the least warcraft thing they’ve added to the game
