These are two races that I commonly see people say that they shouldn’t be added because supposedly nobody wants them. In this scenario. Lets assume the following:
- They are both being released at the start of next expansion.
- Junker gnomes cannot be druids, but get shaman as a new class with a mechanical wolf form. Gilblins can be druids and get a series of sea forms.
- Junker gnomes have slightly mechanical sounding voices. Gilblins have slighter more aquatic sounding voices.
- Gilblins have the same intelligence of goblins and next expansion introduces us to a world were Gilblins have created an underwater trade society with all kinds of aquatic engineering inventions. Basically goblin steampunk, but aquatic like.
- Mekkatorque has been revived as a cyborg. Hobart Grapplehamer has transformed himself into a genetically enhanced aqua goblin and is now leading the Horde.
- Both are also being released with a tinker class only playable by goblins and gnomes and their ARS.

Do you mean clockwork gnomes?

Junker gnomes yes.
Gilgoblins no.
Honestly I don’t think shaman fits junker gnomes. Also, after Dark Irons and Kul Tirans, the Alliance probably has enough options for shaman.

Lets just call them Cyborg gnomes. I honestly don’t know what their official name is.

I wouldn’t play them, but I have nothing against them being added.
In fact, I think it’s likely they will be the next 2 Allied Races.

As of Blizzcon they’re simply referred to as “mechagnomes.” This won’t likely stick, because it’d be confusing since there already is a type of gnome called a mechagnome.

While not really on my most wanted playable races list, I would make one of each and would be fine with them being playable. Thinking I’d make a Male Junker Gnome Fury Warrior and a Male Gilgoblin Survival Hunter.

Love how this detail is so carefully hidden within that text.

Gnome? Oh heck yes. I would need to see the model and animations for the other first - I love my little goblins but they need an update.

TBH, if I played Alliance I could see myself playing a Junker-Gnome, provided that Blizz portrays the culture and civilization of MechaGon in a cool way. Allied races don’t always need to be a NEW physical race after all, but a new culture certainly works.
On the other hand … I really don’t like the idea of GilGoblins. They are barely even a race, being inventions of Hobart Grapplehammer. They’re effectively just portrayed as REALLY dumb water Goblins (“The adaptations that allow gilgoblins to survive the aquatic life has apparently drained some of their higher brain functions and their actions are guided almost entirely by greed”); and considering Blizzard already has issues rendering the entire Goblin race as nothing more than suicidal greedy, comic-relief; not sure I’m thrilled with the prospects of them adding in just a MORE suicidal, less intelligent version of that with gills. I just find the concept SUPER boring…
Even if Grapplehammer manages to find a way to return most of their intellect, they haven’t had enough time to develop an interesting civilization (because they only existed within their creators relatively short lifespan and have been plagued by intellectual deficiencies since their creation). Bluntly, unless Blizz plans to go BIG into their Naz’jatar story; just go with the Vulpera.

Though gilgoblins aren’t really stupid, just primitive and not as cunning as normal goblins. Not sure how I feel about making them druids tho.

I am so excited for junker gnomes and would totally play one if they were released! I think gilgoblins look cool, too, and I would make a gilgoblin alt for sure.

No, not my cup of tea.
Good on the people who want them I guess, but I don’t personally feel exited for anything I’ve seen concerning the Junker gnomes or Gilgoblins.
Both are a no for me thanks. Nothing against them, they just aren’t for me.
