Entirely true. It really doesn’t need a rework, and honestly, it’s kind of support dps as it is sometimes with how often I save people with a quick MSW heal or an aoe poison cleanse, not to mention the movement speed totem and a emergency tank with Earth Ele, or the off heals of Ancestors Guidance… Windfury… Only thing I would want is the ability to put Weapons Imbues on others or Lightning Shield on the tank so I actually get use out of it in pve.
But we’ve already seen this happen. Warlock’s rotation (especially demonology) was worsened because it synergized too well with the given buffs. Unholy DK as well.
We already know what it’s going to become, we’ve already gone through all this rigamarole before with hybrid specs. Lower dps for more utility, then lessened utility with more dps for balance, till its a dps with some utility. Same as any and every dps that currently exists. I don’t have to wait for the conclusion of a farce to know its ending.
Sure, except Enhance literally still exists as a hybrid with a lot of utility and off heals while doing decent damage, not to mention paladin and it’s really strong utility as a hybrid that exists, and now we have Evokers doing the same thing, and thats not even on their support spec. Having more support leaning specs won’t ruin the game or other specs. Warlock and Unholy are both consistently high tier picks despite whatever perceived nerfs they received as a result of Augs existence. They both truck.
I care about how fun they are to play, having to be adjusted for Aug’s existence mandated specific portal builds to be even kind of effective and worsened the peak/valley existence of its damage. Dev/Pres are the example of losing utility to validate support - 60% of Aug’s kit is stuff Dev/Pres players were asking for to round out the effectiveness of their toolkit during beta feedback.
From Aug’s performance, design, implementation, there’s nothing that makes me want to experience more of it. Like I said, I literally stopped playing evoker over my distate for it. Shaman, when it comes to the utility it provides, is just what I’m looking for. I do not want any spec on it that comes close to Aug design.
Based on what metrics? Aug has been dominant in mythic plus representation since it’s inception with this season being utterly dominated by the “god comp”.
I am just adding my voice to the “no” column
The only acceptable thing is a fourth spec for support. And Shaman makes the most sense given the variety of totems and such.
