Grouping with someone in heirlooms is not optional in LFD.

I agree this was stupid. The whole idea of level scaling was also stupid. I don’t recall any of the Classic crowd calling for level scaling. If they nerfed heirloom stats to appease the Classic crowd, then they clearly failed to understand the issue with heirlooms.

I’m not saying that heirlooms ruined the experience for alts. They ruined the experience for new players.

I’ve seen way too many jerks in full heirlooms spamming damage meters in dungeons and complaining that they’re carrying everyone. The problem with heirlooms is that they enable old players (who are already at an advantage by virtue of their knowledge of the game) to effectively solo on-level content, including dungeons. That’s great for the alt, but terrible for the brand new player who would actually like to experience the game at its intended difficulty. Heirlooms would be great if WoW were a single player game like the original Diablo, but it’s an MMO, and they ruin the experience for the other players in the group.

They are also problematic outside of dungeons because heirloom-equipped players are able to pull entire zones worth of mobs without any repercussions. So if you’re leveling for the first time, and a player in heirlooms happens to run into your zone, you basically have to wait for them to get their quests done before you can resume your questing because you will never keep up with their ability to mow down quest mobs.

The way I see it, there are better ways they could have addressed the issue:

  1. Make separate LFD queues for players in heirlooms. Then new players can actually enjoy their dungeons without being forced to rush through them at breakneck paces or being berated for not keeping up with the heirloom players.
  2. Replace heirlooms with boost tokens. Instead of buying heirloom gear, you would buy boost tokens that let you boost alts to level 90, 100, or 110, depending on which tokens you buy.

I bought shadowlands because… pandaren death knight. Im sorry I couldn’t help myself! :persevere:

I am looking at ShadowLands, I like the premise so far, however, I play Prot Warrior and Shadow Priest. I have seen no changes that makes me want to play those classes again!

Maybe if they revert the GCD change.

I got questions about shadowlands like will they make the old raids viable again? I mean we will be lvl 60 now would be the perfect chance of making molten core meaningful again along with others.

That would make the xpac semi cool and maybe I would try it but it’s just going to end in the encounter with helya again.

No i will not be buying. WC reforged and BFA ending is a lot of foreshadowing. You can tell the 800 laid off employees we mostly QAs and you can tell it’s hurting a quality product.

If they revert what? That’s the billion dollar question that they’re hunting for the answer to.

I had to look that up. I’m a PvE player who quit early MoP and only tried Legion for a few months at the beginning. Reverting whatever changes happened to Ashran wouldn’t provide anything of interest to me.

Revert Pathfinder, and go back to TBC / Wrath-era flight where the world was built for it, but it wasn’t usable in original zones. Now that might interest me. And maybe not you, or definitely not thousands of anti-flight PvPers convinced it was the death of wPvP.

Ultimately, I don’t think there is a single game that can appeal to every person who has ever played WOW. There are direct conflicts in what players want, such that someone will always be upset.

Those who came back to WOW for Classic have it. They don’t need to buy Shadowlands. Those who stayed with Retail likely will buy Shadowlands. Given some comments, I get the impression it is on track to have similar pre-order+Day 1 sales.

And, just to provide a glimmer of perspective, my sister-in-law got a friend who had last played in ~Cata to try WOW Classic with us. They griped and complained about things. Then they tried the Retail trial. They bought BfA and have pre-ordered Shadowlands. Changes that make me unwilling to play are changes that make it more enjoyable to them. (Stuff like quests all staying in one zone and having easy map indicators and easy drop rates, or leveling dungeons being 15-minute excursions.)

One person’s junk is another person’s treasure - it goes both ways.

Depends on the prepatch. I also think being scaled down to 60 is a mistake. Wrath level squish would be better imo, or none at all. But again, who knows what the expansion even has to offer compared to the current game.

i saw a lot people, not just streamers hit level 60

things you mention are no longer happening in game, nerf on heirloom stats made dungeons no longer spammable and people that miss that are pretty mad

honestly that is smart idea, wearing heirloom should give you buff to queue with people that also using heirlooms would definitly help then forcing everyone in same field

as someone that wants to get my alts to level 100 to do old legion content would be nice, especially with wow boosts are always changing to reach latest leveling beginning level

That is horrible idea, most likely old raids be scaled to level 50 cap, then level 60s with latest gears would then solo it, mostly likely will happen, people love to transmog run and not go through old raid at highest level

There is no prepatch, 8.3.5 won’t exist.

there is still the rng lootbox for gear upgrades on tuesdays infact its more rng even tho they say there is less.

they said there will be 6 items in the chest and you dont know the stats on them every time so its x6 more rng…lol.

Fox people???

Some of the RPG roots is class themed gear. In Legion, you had class halls each with class set/stories, many cool skins on artifact down to the spec, class mounts, class raid gear. Fwd to BFA… class nothing. I’m a bit mindboggled, that nothing was announced for Shadowlands regarding class perks. Hope that Torghast would at least offer some class themed transmog options.

The other RPG aspects that has lost its way is professions. Not sure what you do for that, but its kinda sad atm with nothing mentioned about it for Shadowlands.

bro, i thought the wow boost was added to the game for those players who hate leveling?

This would at least make me interested into it. Snappier combat and deeper classes through utility and situational abilities (and not just have 150 damage modifiers to juggle), would be bigger factors though.

GW2 is a game that held me for a couple years and its awful as far as the RPG aspect is concerned, beyond cosmetics but the combat feels a lot better than WoW’s ever felt since MoP ended.

You don’t know about the Fox people?? Oh my, well they have em in Modern WoW, im not even kidding; they’re fox people…

It’s a no from me dawg. I’m probably done even if they do tbc. Never played vanilla and that’s the only reason I’m still here. Everything after wrath, I’ll even give them cata was a mistake. I probably wont even play classic the entire time too many changes already.
