Would you actually want go play Legion Classic?

I would love to skip WoD and jump right to Legion classic.

It’s easily one of the top post Wrath expansions.

That’s definitely an unpopular opinion. Legion is by far a better expansion than WoTLK but imo it’s one of the worst - even by Classic standards.

Unless they massively change Legion, I would not want to play it. Original Legion up to 7.3 was best for unemployed players and streamers.

I enjoyed Legion, a lot, I think it’s next to MoP one of the greatest expansion ever made, but the grind in 2025 is just too much. At that point I would honestly just play retail or literally any other game

WoD ruined the market with everyone farming mats in their garrisons.
And the only way I’d play Legion again was if they brought back twinking the level 80 pvp bracket … now THAT was fun!

I stopped WoW after Warlords, never did legion, so sign me up for classic.

All ‘classics’ are the end patch of their respective expansion. Most smoothed out by the end.

That’s true for class balance but not content and patch features. Legion had a lot of time-gated grinds and features.

We certainly wouldn’t get to buy a legendary in the first phase with wakening Essence since it’s tied to the Argus campaign.

Unsure. At its time it felt like a breath of fresh air, especially after the eternal agony of MoP and WoD. The leveling zones were original and fun, the class halls were great (excluding garbage mandatory mission tables), and I loved most of the dungeons and raids.

However, the spec-locked AP grind was horrible, and so were the RNG leggos. The redesign of some specs was really unnecessary and in some cases a complete downgrade (#rip survival). 7.2 Fel Island sucked, and so did the outdoor Argus zones.

And as mentioned, people really only remember the end of Legion, not the beginning.

Fel green also got very old to look at very quickly (thanks to 13 months of it in WoD) and I’m still sick of it 7 years later.

I would definitely return for BfA classic though.

I agree about the spec artifact level. If they implemented Warbands in some way, your AP level coukd be global for your entire character. It’s weird when you need to change specs and have funneled all your AP into one weapon.

At least in the first half of Legion b4 the knowledge level was higher.

Yeah, the lack of content was a bit of a factor in the population decline in WoD, but the biggest culprit was Blizzard removing flying altogether.

The players voted with their wallets, and Blizzard put flying back in but with the pathfinder caveat. I didn’t mind doing PF in Legion and onwards, but PF in WoD sucked so much, especially the rep with the Sabers. I didn’t even get Pathfinder in WoD because it was sooo much work just to be able to fly again.

Not entirely. The final patch(es) did improve Legion, yes, but the question is what of those changes are available from the start and what not.
Let’s say the Legendary vendor. Sure, it’s great a thing added in 7.2 but will it be available in phase 1? Probably not.

7.2 was Tomb of Sargeres. The legendary vendor with wakening essences weren’t added until Argus campaign (7.3.5) as an end of expansion catch-up.

If at all it was 7.3.2 but you get my point

As much as I have nostalgia for Legion, no I wont actually play it.

Its mainly because I have been there, done that type deal and Legion being the start of the Borrowed Power systems era that later on in BFA that I started to eventually despise it.

With Legion remix announced, I will play it since that will give me some nostalgia fill but I dont have any interest in a classic version.

Blizz was bitter that the players revolted after having flying removed and punished them with the horrible Pathfinder system.

I’d give it a shot. I left at WoD and never saw Legion. People seemed to like it. I’d check to see why.

I really doubt they would implement 2 expansions at the same time, just to completely waste the entirety of WoD, because it just has a bad reputation.

I probably would really enjoy playing Legion classic, but I will admit I do see it difficult for the progressive servers to get over the WOD hump.

I’ll give it a shot. I hated it the first go around but looking back I have fond memories of the Argus patch and how easy it was to level and gear up my alts. I got 32/36 mage towers done and remember enjoying just about every spec.

That said, it introduced Mythic+ which is probably the single worst piece of endgame content ever added and the single biggest part of why I don’t enjoy retail anymore since it’s required for raiding. I ignored it in Legion but if culture has changed or they decide to make it more lucrative to punish people who like old school PvE like they do in TWW I’m out.

I’d still take MoP era or just merging us into retail over it tho. I got everything I wanted to get done finished in Legion and I just wanna take my TBC/Wrath goodies into retail at this point, plus Legion remix will easily cratch my Legion itch.

It has a bad reputation because it was bad.
