A change made to compensate for a less vanilla like environment created by a different change (increased server pops).
That’s not an anti-nochanges change.

It’s not even close to authentic is the problem.
1.12 while timegating content.
ZERO item progression
updated talent trees
nerfed bosses
It’s the most watered down version of vanilla they could give us.
worked great???
if you mean people no longer had to worry about their reputation on their server and need rolled on every single item they were capable of need rolling on then yes, it worked “great”
Seems to be an endless cycle though. People realized farming isn’t making as much gold as boosting is nowadays. So many people then create mage alts just to boost others. Then they use the gold to get their alts boosted. Don’t be surprised when the price drops due to too much competition.
Not every mage is good at boosting, and people will stop going to those runs. It’s a seller’s market for sure.
Maybe for stocks, but I seem to see like 10 to 15 lv 60 mages at sm and quite a few at Maura. It’s hard to gauge zg because people actually run zg raids rather than the crocs and tiger pack in one pull. Zg is a hard one to learn, and it has pretty much taken over all of the strat boosting
I haven’t flagged anything, you got the wrong guy
You’re saying that everyone unsubbed because they wound up with a ninja in their group? I don’t buy it. Maybe my experience was different because the majority of my WotLK dungeon runs were four guildies and one random player from dungeon finder. Dungeon Finder ran perfectly smoothly for me until Cataclysm, when I discovered that my spec at the time (Shadow Priest) was not viable for the Erudax fight. Despite my best efforts to manage my mana, I OOM about half way through the fight, and the DPS loss and inability to CC (due to lack of mana) made the fight impossible to complete with me in the group. I chose to reroll as a shaman, but by the time I got it to max level, most of my guildies had already quit. Dungeon finder is simply not fun when you find yourself grouped with someone who has no shot at completing the instance you’re queued for. That’s why they don’t allow it in Mythic+. In addition to the insane dungeon difficulty, the dungeon rewards were absolute garbage. Making the game by raiders, for raiders, and about raiders pretty much guaranteed that only raiders would remain. I know it’s hard to believe from all the rabid fan feedback on the forums, but most players simply aren’t raiders. Dungeon Finder doesn’t change that fact.
Forgive the Necromancy in my reply. I’ve been in a coma. You are missing my point about the dungeon finder. In itself was not a bad thing. But making it cross realmed with 5 other realms did. You no longer wound up in groups of players you recognize daily in town. You no longer have any reason nor desire to communicate with one another. Couple the heirlooms being way OP and characters basically steam rolling content that should hold a level of difficulty based on their level, and you wind up right where we did. Being forced to find yourself a tank for a dungeon meant, you were then forced to speak to another player. This created an environment where people enjoyed meeting others, and found solace within their servers community. Tell me you use the dungeon finder these days and wind up having good conversations, or meeting new friends through dungeons. If you can honestly say that then you are the exception to the cause. When I use the thing these days I get tossed in with a group who do not talk, a tank who pulls 85% of the dungeon and people spamming one skill, because everything is dying. No longer is it the days of okay, sap one, tank pull the other. Its now, roflstomp everything in 35 seconds, get your gear and get out. This completely diminishes the “MMO” part, of an MMORPG. To say it had no impact on the current state of wow, is just ridiculous.
Edit: Just to add to my argument. I remember days where we needed a tank or healer, and found a rando who performed so well, we added said person to our friends list. Perhaps down the road we all create a guild together because we enjoy each others company. There is no need for that anymore. We just click queue, because there will always be someone to fill the roles. Thus making loot from a dungeon all but useless.
