[WotLK] Let's talk Dungeon Finder

Mispeled is single-handedly doing God’s work and deserves the most.

As someone who was on a “dead realm” until blizzard decided they were killing it with free transfers off, i didnt have an issue getting groups for anything when i was on a dead realm because i made social connections.

Nor does rdf fix the issues of “dead realms”. It doesnt fix the lack of participation in the AH, the raiding conditions, world interactions, exc.

Its a bandaid to a much bigger problem, and it doesnt fix any of the other issues.

No changes.

Your experience is either very rare or you’re lying. I watched guild after guild leave my server because they couldn’t find enough groups to do the dungeons. With the rep grinds and attunements in BC they kept falling behind. Finally my guild left to go to a mega server. And it was all about not being able to find dungeon groups. I decided to not transfer with them and stick it out because I was a holy priest and my problems weren’t so severe. But eventually I had to transfer to. I wanted to play the game not spend hours looking for people to play the game with. The transfers to mega servers was mostly driven by players not being able to find dungeon groups.

I watched guilds leave because raids were getting hard to fill, but dungeons were never an issue.

After my 3rd guild took the free transfers (furst two had transfered off and i used my social connections to get into a guild i had friends in each time it happened) i went with them because i knew staying meant i wouldnt get to raid, but dungeons were never an issue.

Its just the difference between someone who works on building social connections, and someone who doesn’t. And that means going outside of your guild as well. I currently have 4 guilds trying to get me to raid with them come wotlk. I plan on putting alts into 3 of them and helping them do daily heroics and such and maybe a 10 man raid. But my main will be doing 10/25 raids and heroics. My alts are just to help others get their stuff done because part of why i have so many social connections is because i out effort into doing things ither people need instead of just what i need.

It’s not. Everyone works on making social connections. We all have friends list. Almost everyone is in a guild. I can’t remember the last time I pugged with someone who wasn’t in a guild. I repeat myself.

my guess is it’s the latter.

I didnt say A guild. I said YOUR guild. Meaning going outside of your circle of friends intentionally to make more social connections.

You know my experiences better than i do, got it. Egotistical much?

this is the same person who said that the year long ICC phase WASNT a content drought, and content drought is a “state of mind”

Kanye west, unironically.

I htink not having it is stupid. Most of the people who played WotLK are now older and do not have all the extra time finding a group.

If you dont like it, then dont use it.

I know the defining precedent of the internet is people lie. Anyone who isn’t constantly wondering if the stranger they’re talking to on the internet is lying hasn’t been paying attention and is pretty ignorant about what commonly happens there.

I never said the content drought is a “state of mind”

quotation mark
one of a pair of punctuation marks " " or ’ ’ used to indicate the beginning and the end of a quotation in which the exact phraseology of another or of a text is directly cited

Do you realize that your constant misquoting of people is just another form of lying?

So because i have a different experience and opinion on the matter than you i must be liying.

Close minded much.

Its ok, we get it, noone wants to play with you so you want rdf to force others to play with you. I can tell why.

No one is forced to use the rdf. As I remember it you have to choose to click on it, then you have to click to choose your role, then you have to choose to click on the dungeons you’d like to do or choose to click random. You have to freely choose to click on the tool several times to get in the rdf queue. And you can choose not to click it at all. In original wrath the lfg channel still existed. You were joined to the channel by default. Everyone could see it and use it. It wasn’t behind a wall that you could only join by using the new tool. In wrath side by side with the rdf you could still choose to spam the lfg channel just like you did in vanilla and BC. It’s those against the rdf that want to remove people’s choice and force them to use the lfg channel. You are the one’s who want to force people to play with you by giving the other players no other choice.

He never said you did.

Quotation marks can be used for more than just a direct quote.

For example i used “dead realm” and i wasnt quoting anyone, i used the quotation to emphasize the words dead realm because its a subjective term. Some people view under 5k players on the realm as a dead realm, some view it as alive and well, and some consider every realm that isnt a mega realm as dead.

When he used “state of mind” he was pointing out that you and others want to claim there wasnt a content droubt in 3.3 because you were still “playing” the game instead of, say, raid logging because the players feel like they have consuned all relevantand available content.

Raid logging or doing dungeons is still playing the game, but its different degrees. And because many felt like they had already “finished” the game it became widely accepted that there was a content droubt. Of course this is an opinion, but those who claim there was no content droubt are of a minority mindset on the issue, even raw math shows that claiming 3.3 wasnt a content droubt a difficult stance to take because it lasted almost as long as 3.0, 3.1, and 3.2 all put together.

And thus hurt your possible character progression by not using the far more efficent and time effective method that also had multiple bonus rewards tied to it that made it essentially mandatory to use.

Its like doing arenas naked or with gear. You can do arenas naked, but its just not a good idea compared to the other option.

Again, remove all forms of bonus rewards and i will support an automated grouping system because then i wont feel forced to use it.

Actually the most effective method of getting VP will be raiding. Whatever the equivalent of 2 badges a day is a drop in the bucket compared to what you get from raiding. Especially as 10 mans will be dropping the good badge from launch. And even more so since you’ll be getting those juicy raid drops on top of the badges.

LOL imagine thinking it’ll take weeks of farming heroics for badge gear before you can clear regular raids.

Regardless noone would care if the rewards were left on quest givers in Dal instead of directly from the tool. It’s laughable to think the rewards are why people want RDF.

You’ll still feel forced to use it. It’s such a better system that even without the trivial bonus rewards most people will choose to use it. All your friends will rather group with 4 strangers that do a run with you.

You want to talk about being forced to use the rdf when it’s just a choice. Here’s the real force, even if I didn’t want the rdf I would hate the new tool. Blizzard forces you to use it just to see or use the lfg chat channel. I thought the chat channel was what you wanted. Before blizzard made the new tool that’s what every one against the rdf was saying. Now they want to be actually and really forced to use the new tool while claiming a choice to use the rdf was forced on you.

Except thats not what i said at all.

Tell me is it true that you can get emblems of valor faster by doing the daily heroic (Which would be tied to using rdf if it was in game)?

Yes or no?

If yes that means not doing it is slowing down your rate of gearing by not getting those 14 emblems a week. Aka, intentionally hurting your possible character progression.

Last i checked you didnt need to use the tool to see the chat channel, just to post in it. And if you are using the tool correctly, you shouldn’t even need to do that unless you expect others to invite you, in which case you are gatekeeping yourself.

I dont feel forced to use the tool. I have a lot of other options for finding group members between different guild chats, discord, world chat, exc.
