[WotLK] Let's talk Dungeon Finder

I risk a lot saying this - and I don’t want to give anyone any stupid ideas - but if they instituted a fee of 50g to queue up for LFD as it was in it’s entirety during Wrath the only thing that would stop me from doing so is the fact that absolutely no one else would and so it wouldn’t actually work.

Toxic labels are not constructive,

The community I built, the community I nurtured, the community I socialize with in and out of the game, the community of players like me, im the leader of my community, what are you? Unsocial and combative? No wonder the hardest part of wow for you is finding friends.

Was that necessary?

It’s basically the random daily heroic quest.

Instead of the npc picking the dungeon the system does.

It isn’t like the current quest is “go do any heroic”.

It picks it for you, kind of like RDF does.

We just have vastly different ideas of it being a “bonus”

If they left the daily quest in instead of tying them to RDF it wouldn’t change anything, it was just the daily quest.

What services? Selling dungeon runs. Selling gear drops. You take away or diminish players’ ability to gear through dungeon finder, this buying and selling of dungeon runs will continue to thrive.

I don’t think removing those bonus rewards makes them marginally less rewarding. It makes it much less appealing. It’s absolutely a major component of LFD. So you do 10 dungeons a day. You’re losing 20 emblems of triumph a day. That’s not insignificant. For the more casual players that’s a huge loss.

Again, I’m speaking specifically after ICC is added. Before that set it up how it was back in Wrath.

Making a lot of assumptions here, aren’t we? I highly doubt you’ve nurtured anything other than your own ego. I have an active guild, and 100% of our socializing is in discord, which has at least 15+ people in it all day every day talking and doing things.

You think I’d get the gear I have and have a cat dps spot in my guild if i was ‘combative and antisocial’? I’m very friendly, I help a lot of people, and I’d even consider myself a core part of my guild.

I don’t think you’re getting it. The ‘daily’ quest for the additional badges was repeatable until you’d done every heroic of the day. It wasn’t just one quest, get badges, all done like it is now in TBC.

I think you’re vastly overestimating how good badge gear is.

The heroics themselves are the pre raid bis not the badges.

I’m going mage, the only badge item you use for actual pre raid bis is trinket.

It’s tier gear by the time of ICC.

Yes it was necessary, truth sometimes hurts, the response to my post was insulting and combative. The very definition of unsocial and toxic, I am defending my opinions not forcing them on others like some zealots in the forum

Congrats on being GM of an active guild with a discord,

I did ask for it! Thank you for taking the time to write this.
The part about the potential for toxicity from the raiding scene to complete the daily dungeon is especially good, if we see LFD, tackling that aspect would probably be a good thing.

Well for one thing it wouldn’t be -20 badges, it would be -16, you’d still get bonuses for the first two. And it’s not like there would still be no reason to keep running, you still get badges and gear from the dungeons.

I hope you reflect on this when it finally hits you that you’re on the wrong side here.

I’m not the GM. Not that its particularly relevant anyway.

But WHY continues to be the question. There has yet to be an answer. These mumblings of ‘a compromise’. Compromise what? Slow down players gearing because…and again, no answer.

I’m talking frost badges, not triumph, who cares about triumph in ICC.

The OP asked for potential areas that could be toned down in LFD, removing the bonus reward for spamming is one area that doesn’t compromise the main function of LFD.

…almost everyone? You forgotten about the BoE’s and gems you can buy with badges? Or the fact that new players/alts will need those badges to buy gear?

We’re not getting LFD as it was. Or at least, it’s extremely unlikely that we will. As much as I would love it, I’d rather have something similar to enjoy than just find another game. So, compromise.

so my take on the no dungeon finder is that for most of us trying to find a group while leveling is very tedious and rough especially if we only have a few hours to play the game. If we had the same population as we did back when classic, and TBC had when it was active all those years ago than i would say to no but with it at all, but most realms are low pop and even medium pop realm’s have an issue. and far as the it kills the community we have no idea for sure if that was the cause or it was other factor’s that added to it.
I would be happy to have some form of dungeon finder added, I don’t care if the final experience points given is low just being able to dungeon between quests every so often would be a nice change of pace for most of us. Like what others have said being able to play classes outside of the few meta classes is rough trying to group the LFG chat for end game content. I know we will be very unlikely to change their choice at all but that is my 2 cents.
