Just finished the 2.1 story content. FFXIV has a great way of really keeping the story interesting.
Meanwhile I heard there’s a linkshell someone set up for WRA refugees? L’bali Vhiik would love to join.

If/when I am on or around you can whisper me, or whisper Solafina’s character or Kaz’s or […]
The fact that I have to be online for you to friend me or whatever is incredibly frustrating.
Thanks, managed to snag Kaz and I’m in the Linkshell
So he told me, which is why I am denying him this pizza.
Meanwhile I just realized that the Voice Actor for Urianger is the same as Fenris in Dragon Age 2
I’m suddenly a lot more interested in this game.
But both times I’ve tried to install it, it has given me errors and decided it’s not going to install today. I know that’s incredibly vague (I can try it again and come up with a more detailed description of the problem if anyone wants), but are there any obvious tricks I should be doing?
Can’t really say. What kind of errors are you getting? Both times I’ve installed it I didn’t have any issues and didn’t really do anything special.
It’s been getting a short ways into the download, then stopping and saying simply “Unable to download patch data.” I’m trying it again now to see if it does the same thing at roughly the same point. The only thing I can think of is that it might be my net, but it hasn’t seemed to be failing otherwise.
I don’t know if this helps but I had that happen when I tried to download FFXIV where I used to live, because I was on satellite internet, which is slow and laggy. So I can attest that if your download speed is less than about 200kb/s it dislikes that and will glitch out.
Alright, this is probably why. My download speed isn’t supposed to be that low, and usually isn’t, but it encounters bouts of lagging from time to time, and most game-related downloads take long enough for me that it’s not unusual for that to happen somewhere in the middle.
I’ll keep trying it until it manages to go all the way through without hitting a lag snag. Thank you much.
I don’t know how FF does it but some game launchers like SWTOR’s use weird methods of data processing that make it more complicated than just “download all these bits of data in order.” TOR’s Bitraider is a nightmare; I eventually had to manually downgrade to the old version of their launcher just to be able to patch. Squenix might be using something similar.
Whenever SWTOR had an update I ended up just deleting the bitraider folder. Easily the worst updater I’ve ever used.
Early ESO was worse. For awhile updates would download at the slowest rate possible, get to the end and then just stop. Reinstalls worked sometimes. And sometimes they didn’t. No help on their forums. I haven’t had that problem for a couple of years, though.
I found it shockingly easy to pick up XIV and put a pillow over WoW’s face. I’d been with WoW literally my entire adult life.
I ain’t loyal, jeez.
Yes sir. That’s me unfortunately. Wish me luck and much love to you!
I wish you all the luck there is!
Same honestly
Also why is Samurai so much fun?
Has anyone else noticed that Sylvanas’ story is an oddly apt analogy for what happened to Blizzard?
Once a shining hero that everyone respected and loved, until it was butchered by dark forces and raised as something unrecognizable. Now it is only an empty shell, seeking to spread pain and convinced of its own righteousness.
That’s been one of Blizzard’s stock tropes for a while. Ironic how it ended up happening to them.
They say to write what you know.
