It’s definitely an awful situation. I’ve been playing wow off an on since Vanilla, part of me is kind of sad that this may be it for me. On the other hand this so clearly isn’t the game that enthralled me anymore.
I’d love to see them right the ship but I no longer trust Blizzard, sucks that it’s come to this but I can’t really justify giving my money to Blizzard anymore. Not when there are options that are just as enjoyable from companies that don’t bend over backwards to screw their employees.
And now general chat is filled with people talking about the subscription fee potentially going from $15 to $20.
Wouldn’t that be a kick in the pants?
I do very much appreciate the thought. I haven’t actually played Ark for quite some time now; I did get it on my Xbox One sometime last year and played it for a little while but kind of lost interest I guess. Though some of what I’ve seen of it recently does seem like it’s been getting better and better.
I’ll certainly keep it in mind; perhaps I’ll give it another shot on my PC maybe.
…I hope to hell not. This will absolutely kill WoW with all the bullturd that’s already going on. For god’s sake Blizzard, don’t do this.
“So, we just fired 800 people, gave our CFO 15 mil, after bragging about our most successful year yet - then whined that it was because next year was gonna be kinda tough. How can we ruin our brand more?”
“Adopt the most expensive sub fee amongst any MMORPG!”
It’s on par with them, really.
I’m not at all saying I actually believe Gen Chat rumors. That said this wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest.
Therein lies my issue. After the merger I wholeheartedly believe that Blizzard had no intention of becoming Activision, and for a long while there was a very very clear difference. Now? I see no difference, I think that’s my biggest take away from the layoffs. That’s the biggest source of my disappointment.
OH! I also just remembered this.
And this lovely quote here from Kotick himself…
if that sounds like it would create a corporate culture that isn't all sunshine and hugs, then it's mission accomplished for Kotick. The executive said that he has tried to instill into the company culture "skepticism, pessimism, and fear" of the global economic downturn, adding, "We are very good at keeping people focused on the deep depression."
“We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games.”
At this point I’m just hoping as hard as I can that they might still be able to break away before it’s too late but …given the layoffs, it’s looking more and more like it might already be too late. I really want to be wrong…
I thought working for Jeff Bewkes was bad but wow that interview is terrible. What a terrible person.
Yeah theres a reason I’ve seen people call Kotick gaming satan
…what in the actua-…
H-how does that even…
Wheezes

Like I said, there was a time that I very much believed that that wasnt what Blizzard was going to become. Now?

So to everyone reading this thread, remember… every 15 dollars you give is more money to line the pocket of someone who, in his own very clear and concise words, wants to terrorize his employee-base and make them hate their jobs.
He doesn’t deserve his success. What a rotten excuse of a human being…
I’m having a difficult time convincing my brain that this was actually said by an actual human being.
It was. Amazing, isn’t it?
I find it amusing that Blizz’s inability to fix things (specifically insubordination people posting) probably played a big role in the exodus here.
I’ve spent the evening fishing in Eorzea. And you know what the best part is? I didn’t get anybody fired by contributing. I never expected I would need to know that that’s a good feeling, but I do and it is.
