Worried FFXIV will kill WoW

I will own up to the fact that Square subjectively puts less resources towards FF than Blizzard puts towards WoW.

But let’s be real here, Square also manages to give players roughly the same amount of content each expansion/patch cycle. Not only that, they release content [usually] on-time with minimal negative feedback. You definitely have your outlier naysayers but the majority of FF players love when new stuff is released.

Look over and WoW and it feels like it’s always 50/50. Then again I’d say that’s because there’s so many of us. Diversity isn’t a bad thing. It’s just hard to look at the success of FF (In regards to its players) vs WoW and not wonder what we’re doing wrong. (Or how Blizz isn’t brain washing their players lol).

I think they’re both good games, just different types of games. I couldn’t ever see myself leaving WoW for it. And I honestly am not sure how any diehard WoW player could. Then again I can see how FF players love their game and feel the same.

FFXIV is actually #1 I know you would never accept that but that’s reality.

You can look them up hun. I’m not going to put any effort into this conversation because you’re in denial.

I mean FF11 is doing pretty well still but it sadly doesn’t evolve much, while they still do new content and monthly updates for it.

I think FF14 is a tasteless product that lack it’s own identity. It is like playing WotLK on loop minute character specs. The features it has of it’s own are very minimal and the way the game has progressed from 2.0 to now, it’s boring. Overworld feels less and less important and cheaters are more and more rampart.

WoW is definitly a better product in terms of server fluidity and connectivity. Makes combat a lot better where FF14 has issues with those, and macros being read server side is awful. Square struggle with server infrastructure hardcore, and the cash shop, is beyond ridiculous with how many items there is to it. Gutting game content for a raw price of cash.

And last well, I do prefer how WoW is more Fantasy and sometimes dark fantasy, like Death Knight order hall and shadowlands. FF14 feels like too much high fantasy and sci fi.

But SE is just as bad as Blizzard in many ways, even worse on their own way. It’s just people refuse to acknowledge it because Yoshi Producer is a lot more charismatic and devoted (And doesn’t take any risk with his game.) than WoW director. (I think Ion is smart and does a good job and try to do patents, he is just bad at being on the same ground level as the player base.)

FF14 doesnt post sub numbers, the only metric we really have is an incomplete census from LuckyBancho. Blizzard doesnt post sub numbers, only MAUs which doesnt give us full data.

There is no bullet lol. If so, you would have shown it.

Uh-huh. Denial is rough. Work on that.

I have a question about FF since we’re on the subject. Is grouping with others in any way required or forced? And if so, is grouping in FF as notoriously miserable an experience as it is in WoW; e.g., rush rush rush, go go go, wipe wipe wipe…

Show FF14s sub numbers then.

Accounts and active players means nothing. FF14 doesn’t even have over 3 million MAU. People coming back for the new story and clogging server than leaving when they caught up is not part of the group of players you need to care for. It’s the same with WoW when new stuff drops.

Until they make Trusts available for all required group content, yes.

Dungeons and certain raids are required.

Yes and No.

They added NPC you can do dungeons with I think many of the dungeons now. So you can have the option to do it at your own pace.

As far as the rush rush rush goes. Yes, tanks pull 2 groups of things and aoe them down. It is kinda the curse of doing the same content for years get you. People just rush through.

I love both games. FFXIV does a lot of things better than WoW. And WoW does some things better than FFXIV.

This hostility towards FF in general is really weird. I think most people in this thread have no idea what they are talking about.

And yes, FFXIV community is larger and healthier than WoW. WoW lovers could never come to terms with this. They can’t even come to terms with the fact that WoW is 18 years old.

Do you really think this 18 yr old game will be #1 forever? Lol…

My FF static hates when I bring up WoW. Like hates it with a passion. I can’t help myself though. The gameplay in WoW is so much better and the class design is far more dynamic (Opinion).

There are so many things I can’t stand about FF and I think you nailed a good number of them. Yet I still play it. I’ve met good people over there and I can’t necessarily say the same of WoW. I definitely like WoW’s gameplay far more, I just can’t stand all the 15-20 yr old behavior. Even full grown adults still acting like children.

You can “solo” specific dungeons with main story npcs. If with a group of players, it is the same as any other mmorpg except for one detail.

Everyone wants to rush the dungeons, but fel forbid if you skip a cut scene in dungeons. Do that and buckel up to be called every nasty word in human history lol. Or just roll a Hellsguard Scholar for the daily verbal abuse.

There is some required dungeons and raids yes.

The big difference is people in FFXIV are much kinder and you will actually feel welcome in those groups as a new player, unlike WoW.

The tick rate is the main problem I think with FF14.

It depends what you do. There’s NPC that were added to be dungeon companions now. There’s Deep Dungeon (Rogue Like floors) made to level which can be done solo if you’re really into that, but it is slower.

Certain content is still tied to players working with players unless you manage to power creep it. Like Eureka / Bozja. 8-man raid you still got to do with players. 24 man raids as well with other players.

8 man trial (Boss fight) can be cleared with trust npc, but farming them will have to be done with players.

I stopped FF14, I can’t stand the community there. Your example is a prime example of it, if you dare enjoying something that is not FF, that player base crucifies you.

It’s just poor latency management if you ask me. I thought it was genius at first but eventually I had to be real with myself.

No one wants to play an online game where your actions are always in the past. Where what you see on the screen isn’t technically true. Not because that’s the reality of online gaming, but because the client/server infrastructure does very little to hide all that from you.

Sadly this is true. They will chastise you for playing WoW. Then again I’m sure WoW players would do the same.

Or at least I think they would. I bring up systems that work well with my guild and they just listen. There’s no “Ew I hate the graphics,” or “Naw that game is toxic.” They just carry on. Guess we’re less insecure lol.
