I actually generally like world quests. I avoid like the plague anything that is a do % as I find they feel like they take forever.
I also avoid like the plague anything with a horrible drop rate, like that moronic ‘salamander scales’ quest for skinners. The second toon after killing a score of salamanders, just ended up buying them on the AH.
Given I don’t do ‘end game’ and on my server rares just sit there forever with no groups going after them at all at any time other than maybe reset day, they’re something to do when I’m not doing main quests or collection hunting.
It depends on the game actually. Most have both aspects of pvp and pve while leveling up, but when it comes to end game, usually one or the other is king. In games like Lineage II or Ragnarok Online for example, huge guild vs guild or clan vs clan castle sieges were the main end game activity. It was pretty fun.
WQs just need a toggle in the game options menu. There are many players who never do WQs because they gear up in PVP/M+ and get what they need from those channels (i.e. shadowflame spark splinters, crest fragments).
If you could toggle them at the base game level so they don’t show on the map, and you aren’t given the talking head trigger when you approach the area, that would be a welcome addition to the game. Players who want / enjoy WQs see them and do them, but players who don’t care for that content at all, aren’t bothered by it all over the map.
The person I’m responding to is talking about wanting leveling removed. And talking about this game’s pvp. All of them have some form of leveling and in this one PVP is secondary, and most times an afterthought.
Such an afterthought that we get balance changes just for pvp every patch and also we got a new arena type and we are about to get ranked solo queue RBG’s.
Sure isnt. I want emissaries brought back daily! Was a great source of gold and rep. I do not want any of that 2-3 part crud to ever show its head again lol.
The content for me in pvp is the pvp itself. I don’t need new maps or other stuff like that. Just reset the season and change up the meta once in a while and i am happy.
Technically arena gets a new map every expansion. Just because unrated PvP is left behind doesn’t mean devs don’t care about it — they just aren’t putting development into a mode they can’t spin into an e-sport.
I just do the gold ones here and there. The gold WQ in the Dreamsurge zone get a 3x gold multiplier every now and then so you can get 2-5k depending on the WQ. Good for spamming with alts.
But I do agree in general. They really are dull and pointless most of them. They really need to make them more relevant with rewards people actually want.
I only do the ones I don’t mind. The world quests are a huge improvement over Shadowlands though. I agree legion and BFA were the best formats for world quests.
I like some of the low-stress quests especially (climbing, taking pictures) because especially with an under-geared toon they’re a great thing for something to do after a brain-frying RL day. Tuskar fishing and the Tuskar cooking quests are also rather fun, though the former has gotten very very old for me after many toons.
It would be nice to have more variety in them. I always feel the current rotation and number is a bit low, so things get – repetitive too quickly.
World quests are just daily quests that move around the map. Well, they were, I’m glad they’re on a 3.5 day timer now.
I do them when I need to otherwise I don’t think about it. It’s nice when they reward gold. Not really sure what you’re expecting. Quests in WoW had always boiled down to go here, do x, kill x, get reward with the flimsiest justification for doing so.
