- Speak to Gertie (done)
- Grab a prototype from Razik’s weapon rack (done, icon shows on center screen)
- 0/10 Hunt animals using Razik’s prototype (failure to register!)
Level 45 Icefang Howlers show 2 of 3 in a pack with ‘quest ring’ around their bases, target, click icon, weapon fires, instant death, zero credit
Have killed a couple dozen, no joy. Logged out and back in, same situ.
HOWEVER!
If I attack the Elite “Gurbog the Basher” that roams Howling Hills quest area, the weapon fires, does initial damage, then streams a green stream at the target which I am guessing is what’s SUPPOSED to happen if they were of my level.
I’ve killed EVERYTHING within the quest zone outline and no joy. I’ve killed it with the icon, with my crossbow, with my fists. No joy.

Same problem, this quest is bugged when you received Expanding Shot weapon, you will not get credit because the weapon instantly kills everything. This has been a problem for a LOOOOONG time, I don’t think blizzard cares about old content anymore… but I’ll add a reply confirming this is still a problem, and we can hopefully help other people give up hope of doing this quest. Maybe in a few years blizz might look into it…

Yup… still bugged. I think Akatsu’s right, old content won’t get attention unless one day all the new content has absolutely zero things going wonky. It’ll be like a twilight zone kinda day.
I’m going to try finding those ettins though, seeing as stripping my toon naked to nerf my damage didn’t work either.

Is this a bug though? It sounds more like a bad design mechanic that never had the foresight that max level players might go back to do High Mountain world quests. Which is wild to me because WoW made heritage armor for the High Mountain Tauren race, which practically ensures new players will return to old content to collect that armor. Also, I made a high mountain Tauren to grind rep for that armor, and encountered this world quest and it still does not give kill credit if you 1 hit kill it with the extra action button. Sounds like a frustrating design flaw, but the majority of world quests do work. This quest doesn’t interfere with game progression or stop you from reaching any legion achievements just an unfortunate reminder that not all quests are max level player friendly.
No… but it stops me from getting boots I apparently don’t have the appearance for.
