World ping 180ms all the time

Hi Guys

For the last few days, i believe since the latest patch, i have had an increased world ping of 180ms. My home ms is fine at 30 but world just gets stuck on 180 all the time. Several friends of mine have been having the same issue (also same ISP) but then other friends who are on a different ISP have no issues. I’ve tried pathping, tracert etc to oceanic ip address but i can’t isolate the problem because it just times out from hop 4 onwards. If i run a ping program like exitlag my ms goes back to normal at 30.

Do you guys know what could be causing this problem all of a sudden? Is it my ISP routing or something gone bad? there not been very helpful right now so trying to figure it out on my own.

I think you figured it out already.

Yes, that would be my guess based on all the information. As their customer, you should feel empowered to ask them to look into it.

What i don’t understand though is why my ms is 30 in org but 180 in valkdrakken, why does the area in the game matter if it was my ISPs fault? This has started ever since the patch…

There are not a lot of people in Orgrimmar anymore, most are hanging out in Valdrakken. The data needs are much higher there. Additionally, it could be that one zone uses IPv4 and the other uses IPv6 and your ISP doesn’t offer optimization or support for IPv6.
