World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria Classic Arrives July 21

It was allowed during the actual MoP launch so I can’t see why not.

About 13 years too late for that.

It’s because they are not updating SoD anymore, guess they trying to give the SoD players somewhere to go?

I still think they should have stopped at WotLK.

MoP introduced a very crap talent system. RP was grand, but MoP lost touch with the Classic vibes more than Cata.

Its something they started in TBCC. its more a racial thing than class.

The boost is not for new races. Old races are fine. Blood elf paladin started level 1. But you can boost a human one.

Jaded me has this a carrot on stick to stock up the low levels leveling seen. they tend to fall off lol. And we just got JJ XP bonus…so that will clear out some old races.

I’d see panda boost near the end, like they did with space goats and blood elves.

Nonsense, need EA to get out of Jade Forest before the masses arrive.

Do the challenge mode dungeons unlock recolors of the originals?

Would be kind of cool if they did

They’d be the exact same as the original ones since its MoP Classic. Doesn’t really have much to do with Retail.

New, original content >>> Replaying something from years ago

Even though I loved MoP, there’s no way I’m grinding out some of that stuff again ahah.

Remember Shaohao rep, as it originally was? Yeah, lol.

I am curious to see how long MoP classic stays alive, I’m not sure how big Cata Classic even is currently.

I feel like Era/Vanilla WoW will always be the ‘biggest’ in terms of population. (Never forget how massive the 2019 relaunch was.)

SoD is basically Classic Remix, and that was popular for a time.

Maybe they’ve learned their lesson and keep the realm count low, so the players don’t get spread out when it inevitably dips later on.

Yep. it’s a “new” player lure and see who bites.

As a 2019 start (but really kicked in tbcc) cata player, I am fine with that. Cata is not dying…but we don’t have wrath numbers either. Lets chum the waters and see what we get is my take on it.

Cata, and wrath, and tbcc gave even casuals like me ample time to make an alt army lol.

Looms and JJ bonus in place now, this isn’t exactly anniv leveling grind either.

Now they tweak the beta xp it feels like…but even leveling there has not felt so bad either (no looms in beta).

Granted I do this coming from anniv leveling sometimes to give a true sense of what slow af leveling is lol.

I meant the challenge mode armor sets. I’ve heard talk they’re not coming back, which I kind of expected. I was just wondering if they’d bring back a recolor or something

I’d be fine with original or recolors. Either is exciting to me

WoW has been a huge part of my life since MoP. There’s still no other hobby or game I enjoy more. In many ways, it has saved my life as well, providing escapism, a platform for learning and integration, and even academic and artistic inspiration.

Since then, I’ve watched my guild of 250 people die, my (MoP S15) Elite PvP gear and enchant stripped away arbitrarily (due to a sudden collection system change), top RBG guilds die, and friends-list after friends-list after friends-list… die, over and over again.

This pattern of failure follows disappointments and abrupt, uncalled for changes, such as the scrapping of the original Worgen models, and a lot of promised and tested content that was cut away at the last minute, or that never made it at all. PvP always takes months to balance. With everything, the Studio takes WILD swings, radical pendulums and abstract “scorched earth” approaches. The stubbornness and Hubris, refusal to back-track on any bad decision while answering everything with “let’s go back through the portal to an alternate Utopian dimension” (WoD philosophy, and postmodernism. Coincidence??) solves NOTHING, ever.

All the while, the abruptly changed systems and methodologies, over time: Reduced the human element in communication, the frequency and robustness of testing, as well as diluted and failed to monitor and maintain the platforms (primarily these forums) seemingly designed for communicating with players (paying customers), facilitating discussion and curating feedback. In reality (From the Worgen example to PvP balancing), they mainly serve to increase tribalism, elitism and drive unwanted changes following the whims of vocal minorities (while regularly shielding exploiters, abusers, narcissists and trolls. Reminder: Mob rule is tyranny).

This entire decade of design philosophy has made WoW progressively unrecognizable.
As a player who remains since MoP, my overwhelming memory from WoW since then is one of betrayal.

For the game’s sake as a long-term product for which I wish ‘health’, I truly hope that this is the final “Classic”.

I enjoyed MoP… It’s in-fact the time of my life I look back the most fondly on, but I can’t and won’t play it again. That already happened, over a decade ago. Many updates later, the game still has profound issues; from the PvP rewards being irredeemable, to class design failing to emulate that time.

I would like to urge the Studio to fix and focus on the main game for the long haul.

This decade’s lessons are not to be found in retreating to the past but learning from it. The Classic cycle and the other FOMO tactics (e.g. Remix, Plunder, Trading Post, even the Shop) do nothing but splinter the playerbase and give players fewer reasons to play the game with each iteration. Classic realms are simulacrity pockets locked in time, baits designed merely to sap subscriptions while providing less content. Ever since WoD but increasingly since Classic, it’s as if everything is being done to deliberately shatter the game’s community, kill incentive and foster unhealthy player psychology.

I hope WoW returns to feeling like the MMORPG it was promised and sold to us as ASAP. The first crucial step to doing so is consolidating players into the modern Azeroth. Then, increasing feedback loops and content: Horizontal, long-term, open world, social / requiring networking again. Ideally, I’d like to see ALL servers shut down and our collections moved to a “WoW 2” client with more robust servers, an updated and larger world, better graphics, more fluid and accessible combat and evergreen content as mentioned above. This is the only way WoW can truly sustain for the long haul of a few more decades. Classic is a bandaid, and the opposite of the solution WoW needs as an MMO. WoW used to be MMO King… And it can be again – if it returns to learning, innovating, looking ahead and staying ahead of the competition. The practices over the past decade have made me genuinely question the Studio’s integrity, intentions, and frankly – understanding of, and qualifications for and of training in business, consumer psychology and philosophy (design, incentive, reward).

And the crowd goes mild.

TL; DR —

OHH… GEEZ, I MUST HURRY IN KILL DEATHWING IN HEROIC.

And I’d like to complete the Heroic Raids of the first phase before Junie end with me being a Level 85 Assassination Rogue with MoP talents. And worse, I have to overcome, like in ICC, being accepted for Raids and not be discriminated against like I was with the pirate servers, where only noobsters combat rogues were accepted.

If this continues in Siege Ogrimmar, I’ll have to finish my Rogue’s last expansion as a sub-rogue anyway to do the harder Mythic Raid.

Good luck, and I have a Panda and a DK to try to get him to Level 90 as quickly as possible when I complete the raid.

War Within Classic coming soon!

Why are you worried about doing Dragon Soul during MoP pre-patch?

Yeah. I get why some folks wanted MoP. But Classic very much ended the second they stepped foot in Cata.
