World Of Warcraft 2

It’s time for World of Warcraft 2. A completely new game with a brand new modern engine, better writing, better graphics, better stories, better lore and quests, better character creation, better optimized for modern computers. And free to play with only the cosmetics cash-shop.

I would love to hear how many in the Wow community would like to see this happen?

Let’s fix the current WoW before a sequel is developed.

Better graphics/character creation/optimization are the only things you could hope for in the list you made. The other things, well, nothing is stopping them doing that now + it’s subjective.

I’d be fine with a reset and WoW 2. If the game was better optimized that’d be worth it by itself.

IDK about Free to Play either. Doesn’t that invite more bots/scammers? At least now botters risk having to fork over x amount for a new account.

It needs a new engine/codebase, and that isn’t really feasible without an entirely new game, is it? I’m genuinely asking.

I mean, it probably won’t happen, but there’s this tiny part of me that says WoW 2 could happen after TLT if Azeroth is born, depending on the circumstances.

It is bold to assume that just because there is a 2 in the title that anything would actually be better. Especially with the same people building it.

If they are capable of making everything better, it makes more financial sense to carry on with the current game instead of splitting the population yet again.

We are in WoW 5 now. It started in DF. After the last titan it will prob be WOW 6. They aren’t going to make an actual separate game, but they are changing the game so drastically it might as well be one.

Only if it includes an Import function to bring over my characters.

I’d love a re-release, but only if all characters from all versions are transferred to one client, and all collections move forward with the player account. Classic was a mistake, because it splintered the community. That functionally betrays the thriving world factor to an MMORPG. If an idea like mine were to pass, WoW would ‘soft re-launch’ with improved tech, and an open world that is: horizonal, overgreen, dynamic, and social (I suggested Heroic World Tier in 2019). It’d have much wider customization and looser restrictions, Glyphs to customize aesthetic hero specs and ability combination as in Season of Discovery. F2P with more levels and a prestige level system like in GW2, reflecting achievements and perhaps granting a VERY slight (0.01-0.1%) bonus in the end-tier content (which would be a DLC subscription). This way, WoW could be enjoyed by anybody, whether you are a roleplayer, world PvP’er, or a raider of any level… I honestly think it is a no-brainer. I fault WoD for beginning an anti-MMO loop that WoW is still not out of, and which every new Classic, Trading Post FOMO baiting, seasonal event and radio silence ultimately get us farther from that possibility (or even that of Azeroth feeling alive with player activity as it did til MoP) from ever being accomplished. It truly is a tragedy, resulting from a philosophical disconnect from the MMO genre and player incentive.

Yes we all want dreams to come true.

I’d be down for a reset to a more grounded world without the cosmic soap opera.

I doubt the game would be good though.

Good graphics don’t make a good game and are oftentimes more of a detriment

As long as it carries over mounts, titles, achievements etc I’m neutral to this.

Games don’t need better graphics, they need better optimization so it could run on any computer at best performance. Then more people can play and afford the game.

Another one is a improved story without real-world issues and real world political aspects, make it entirely fantasy themed with lots of action -put the war back in warcraft. Get rid of most of the cutesy weird friendship romantic stuff. Make guys strong again, make the lore characters inspiring and relatable, and bring back the gore.

New character models that are the same wow art style that support sliders like physique, height, and shape (similar to eso body slider options). Also face shape sliders that modify every detail of the face and head, hair color/eye color/skin tone sliders. Make hairstyles not gender locked. No face shapes and eyecolors linked to skin colors. This will bring more diversity into the game so players can make their characters look however they like.

Better graphics are already going in game, the rest is subjective. I also do not want to restart after being here for over 20 years.

I thought about it and realized I don’t really care

At some point, you just have to realize that you can’t fix the current iteration. Even though over time, this game has been optimized to support multi-core CPUs, it doesn’t do a perfect job of it. By continuously adding to the same game over 2 decades, it becomes more overwhelming for some folks, even with the QoL changes.

I theorize that in order to Bring Back the Wow Magic it would take a Wow 2 as the OP stated. That would make it so the existing Wow players would experience the adventure and exploration they did in 2004. With new continents, a bigger sandbox world, brand new places to see. etc.

Nah they slowly upgrade the visuals and systems over time. Wow 2 to you will just be a new narrative path.

That is a sure fire way to make WOW crash and die.

Wow is running on peoples nostalgia. But that will only last for a few more years. Once most of the players that started playing on release are gone. Wow might find it hard to attract new players. A Wow II would reinvigorate the game with a whole new world to explore.
