Can we get a break from all these mount collectings? Can we get something like custom character portraits like in diablo 3? I’ve always wanted to have the gold elite dragon on my characters

I’d like this. D3 had a few good ideas that, in the end, were pretty solid.
Edit: or some more cool pets. Idk. I like them.
Why not both? I enjoy mount collecting!

That would really be boring in my opinion. Who cares what is around your portrait on your UI? I rather have things in world I use that actually matter.

Mounts dont really matter either. They’re just cosmetic and ego boosters. At least portraits can add something new, like adding some sort of new cosmetic for holidays. Its just extra flavor for the game.

Especially for RP! Lots of little things that can make the world more immersive. I feel far too many don’t care for the little things. I still get excited for cool pets, and toys.

id argue most mounts arent even ego-boosters anymore. i see the heroic raiding mounts from AOTC and im like eh. im sure people see my pandaren phoenix and say eh to that as well.
gladiator mounts though make me stop and look, even though boosting is possible.
Yeah it’s pretty rare for me to get excited about a mount these days. I have so many already and most of the new ones are these huge unwieldy things that are impractical in half the situations you’d use a mount.
It’s just like, “yaaay yet another house sized mount that can’t fit through doorways and will sit and collect dust”.
FF14 added these player cards, you can edit with photos of your character, backgrounds, titles and other stuff.
Some got suspended for putting their characters in bent-over pose, butt facing the camera, and other funny poses.
It was great. WoW could use something similar. I imagine RPers would love it.
Why act like this is zero sum, like you can only have one or the other? I don’t care about any custom character portraits, but I like new things, so bring 'em on. But don’t stop giving me more mounts and more pets, either. More of everything, including customization, is always good.

And I usually change my UI to not even show target portraits…so it would be wasted on me, a probably a lot of other people

I remember.
I was extremely sad when I saw my dancing troll was no longer dancing in the armory.
And then they shut down the armory and incorporated it into the WoW website itself.
