World of Grindcraft

Well said.

This, new generation of “gamers” are pathetic. They would rather open their wallets, buy gold so they can buy boost runs, GDKP items, etc. Very pathetic

Which is SUPER easy. Like, brain dead easy to get revered. If anyone complains over that, they might reconsider playing an MMO

I’m legitimately curious as to what systems, tasks, events, content, etc. make up this “fun” your referring to?

Didn’t play WotLK, did ya?

There were grinds all over that expansion.

It’s always the same people showing up in Anon’s thread right after its made. I’m going to figure out which one of you is Anon’s alt soon.

I think we had a different definition of grind back then. Nowadays terms are kind of applied to anything and everything. I remember there were reps to grind, I grinded dungeons with my friends for those frozen orbs, I got to know the Kaluak real well and got a nice fishing rod off of them. It was all there, but I don’t think fatigue set in by then. And although the community has always been hyperbolic in nature, I feel like we are collectively getting crazier and crazier as time goes on.

With all that being said, there were plenty of people playing and you could pretty much dive into any kind of content you wanted back then, as I personally remember it I had very little barrier to entry to join my friends for content once I hit max level.

Could you remind me what player power was gated behind that reputation again?

No, no, that’s not the same group.

There are 4 types of gamers in my opinion

Group 1: The Hardcores - They’re the gamers that will spend hours upon hours focusing on a game, pushing to get titles, mounts and gear before everyone else, often chipping into their work hours or personal lives to get it done.

Group 2: The Casuals - The bulk of the playerbase, they play the game casually as the name suggests, not really pushing hard for content, but not bothered by doing a bit of work to get what they want either.

Group 3: The Lazies - These are the ones I mentioned above. They’re like casuals, only without the ‘not bothered by doing a bit of work’ part. They’ve gotten used to other games handing stuff to them, so they expect WoW and other MMOs to do the same and get annoyed when they have to put in the work.

Group 4: The Wallet Warriors - They’re the types of players you’re mentioning. The ones that don’t care about work because they’re just going to open their wallet and buy a direct shortcut, if there’s one available. Or they’ll indirectly buy one via a boost.

made me laugh

Right now, in Shadowlands, there really isn’t any. That’s my point.

I got that, I’m trying to figure out what game content in wotlk you considered fun, that’s missing in Shadowlands?

Well, let’s see.

  1. The quests.

  2. The dungeons.

  3. The raids.

  4. The Argent Tournament.

  5. Professions.

  6. Gearing.

  7. Server identity/social scene.

  8. The old world (Vanilla/TBC) still being relevant.

Shall I go on?

The only things in which Shadowlands comes close to the quality of WOTLK-era WoW is in the art and music areas, both of which are excellent.

WOTLK was the most popular because A. Things were refined in the first huge MMO that was played by the general public beyond just MMO-addicted gamers B. The storyline was years old, and many people loved the Lich King and the aspects. The grind was atrocious, the grind has always existed and always will.

I swear people want to play Counterstrike WoW-style instead of an MMORPG.

The social scene is not game content. I agree on old world content no longer being relevant, however that’s been the same every xpac.

Other than that, all the same content still exists. If you thought quests were fun in Wrath and horrible in Shadowlands, but you can’t communicate what specifically the difference is, what is it you expect the developers to do differently?

I just did communicate the differences. Could I go into more detail? Sure.

However, you seem to be operating under the mistaken impression that you are important enough for me to be worth that level of effort.

You’re not.

You either are a shill or a troll, and in either case are not worthy of further time. Have fun!

So basically, nothings different. The game content is the same, it’s you that’s changed.

I miss these things the most.

I am no fan of Shadowland systems; it is tedious as hell (maw). But when you’re right you’re right and Wrath of the Lich King had plenty of grinding

Not only that, but an actual path to endgame without having to raid.
