Same here. I instantly fell in love with WoW’s art style, the music, and animation. I played Everquest and Asherons Call. I really liked MMO’s but those two were a bit two difficult to get into. WoW was ‘easier’ and more fun, imo.
Classic WoW had an edgier and more classical RPG feel than retail which is slop to me.
These wings and similar pieces of silly gear make WoW feel like Fortnite or Roblox. No thanks.
I have the living wood druid set with the dragon fly wings. My KT wears it with a gas mask, fat fairy ftw.
So naturally I’m going to want some or all of these. I’m going the whole way through the SL story so I can get to the night fae mogs on this character, it’s really unfortunate they rescinded threads of fate. And that I did not play a leather class when SL was current. But I need that set with the spiral behind the head. Like, it’s worth spending a couple days on.
I’ll end on this. If you get into actual historic faerie lore, they are frightening. They even abduct like aliens. I’m not sure where the idea that they had wings comes from though, I think it was some victorian era art or something. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle thought a “photo” of winged faeries was real (they were photos of cardboard cutouts). Considering the guy invented Sherlock Holmes he was actually very easily fooled.
I’m sure the WoW art team can deliver something that appeals to them.
Yea, there are limits to keep the T rating, so the crowd wanting the gore stuff will need to keep that in mind.
WoW has the best art team. They hitting home runs over and over.
Won’t argue there, I’ve always been somewhat impressed by what they did with what they had. Older WoW was pretty impressive in that yes the polygons was there but they was cleverly hidden in good texture wraps. You could still see it if you looked closely enough, but your basic day to day movement it was difficult to really notice them.
For those that don’t know what i’m referring to. I mean the triangle like shapes you see in trees if you examine them closely. Or even the ground you walk on.
old disney to be correct… current disney is woke, so everything they show needs to imply something in some way.
so in this case, the butterfly wings would be offensive because it somehow it relates to feminity in a way that implies weakness, and thats patriarchism and blablabla.
you get what i mean.
No where did I say the entire game was like this from way back when. There’s always been little things like this but for overarching theme it was generally much more as I described.
Back cosmetics like this tend to clip through a lot of other gear, weapons, and hairstyles, which makes them a lot less exciting once you try to use them in-game.
Yeah, the new backpack from the RAF explorer’s gear recolor also looks incredible, but then I remembered you need to trade a cloak for it, it hides your weapon, and it clips through everything. It’d be nice to see a separate accessory slot someday, and a weapon visibility toggle.
I feel a good example of the T rated gore that you described would be like the vicious alliance horse, it has a decapitated head from almost every horde race that was available at the time. To this day in my top 3 favorite mounts
