Admittedly… back in the days of Vanilla, when everyone was hyped over the new Blood Elf race, and wondering who would join the alliance.
I recall people saying Worgen would be a race. Not once did I ever think that would come to pass, though I did want it.
At the same time talks of “heroic classes” were in the works, and people wondered what classes would come. DK, Monks, and Demon Hunters were of course mentioned. The idea of a Worgen Monk crossed my mind even back then. I loved the Monk character in a SNES game I played “Crystal Beans” which… was a wolf character! I wanted a worgen monk!
Now… Worgen AND Monks are in the game… but still no Worgen Monk.
I played Combat Rogue, as it felt like the closest I’d ever get to Worgen Monk, but they changed it into a more piratey swashbuckler, so no longer felt the same.

Just look at those shoulders… Come on Blizzard make Worgen the correct 8 feet tall so our shoulders fit our player model.

To this day I don’t understand why Blizzard downgraded massively from the alpha models to the weird looking chihuahau face. You look at some of the screenshots of people posting themselves using the alpha worgen model, and it’s like wow, this is what we could have been having this whole time.
Honestly with all the big cosmetic stuff coming in, Blizzard can have the best of both worlds. We could have the new current reworked worgen, a remake of the snarly chihuahua for those that liked that one, and a remake of the alpha model. Basically have a head shape option and hair option, boom. You just revitalized a big chunk of the worgen community and brought in more people to try it out.

Wonderful design. Really beautiful. I loved the hairstyle, the belt and the necklace. Highlight for the tattoos matching the eyes colors with heterochromia.
My compliments to the artist in charge.
There were more than 10 models if I remember correctly. What a waste we never had a chance to use.
Blizzard now has a chance to rectify that.

Head shape + Ear shapes would cover the alpha worgen aesthetic on it’s own, honestly. Doesn’t need to be exact, but we still don’t look “wolf like” - everything is just way too rounded still, and the ears aren’t canid like at all.

The main thing will be getting a blue post telling us at least they have heard this post and some feedback around our requests. Keeping the post active and working on our list is the best way to do this.

Worgen really should have tails, I don’t know what creative reasoning they were going with deciding that they shouldn’t have tails. No one ever not wants to have a tail if they are going to be playing an anthropomorphic race, that’s an unspoken law. The tail is usually the best part. Also, and this goes for all races really, would be nice if males had the option to be thinner and less testosterone gorilla-y.

this is kind of a moot point considering both goblin and worgen can choose the new starter zone that they added meaning their journey doesn’t start in gilneas or kazan. which means worgen and goblins should get monks

Stating I understand the reasoning, doesn’t mean I disagree with the desire for the change. I’ve advocated many times for the Exile’s Reach start area to open up this change. Exile’s Reach, for the same logic originally used against monks, now works in favor and legitimizes nearly every race and class combination because it takes place canonically after these factions joined the alliance.
No longer is there any time gating stopping pandas from teaching worgen and goblins to be monks. More importantly for what I want, there is nothing stopping worgen from learning to be shamans from the draeni and kul’tiran before shipping off to Exile’s Reach.

That would be nice, could play a race that isn’t a troll, elf or small race then as I am very much not a fan of the gorilla or ‘tree trunk’ arms of all other males.
