Yeah, it was brought up to me again and I feel really bad for not saying anything because I clearly didn’t read the entire OP. Which is my fault. Life lesson.
I can’t blame you for stopping. I do support worgen options for sure in general though, and they are one of the few Alliance races super interesting to me aside from void elves & night elves. (Yes, kill me, I’m an elf person, but I’m a nice one I swear).
Entirely with you there. Glad others like you and Albien had pointed it out for the derps who didn’t notice like me. It should be addressed.
Okay it was a glitch on my end that I couldn’t post, but this is Fallynn, and yeah this is the darkest fur option we have for worgen. Yes I know it’s been said before but I still think solid black would be awesome and wanted to make a point
Good luck! AWESOME art, I love it. Also, I loved your post before about that jet black fur. Big yes please.
I wonder if this book from Cataclysm is still canon with all their retcon.
But even so, it’s still an alternate universe where i wouldn’t be surprise if in one of these universes, white goblins, purple Dwarves and black elves existed as the norm.
What i regret about the black elves is that the devs didn’t take the occasion to flesh out a new civilization and just went the easy road of “they were just there”.
What a missed opportunity to flesh out the world a little more.
So 9.1.5 is scheduled for a November 2nd release. Once that hits live, that’s when we push hard on actual customization stuff for the main line patch where its worgens, male night elves, and all the other core races that got left in the dirt throw in our request for stuff so that in 9.2.5 they can work on another set of allied races, and so on, swap between core races and allied races per patch.
I was holding out till 9.3, but at this point doesn’t feel like we will get that even. So here’s hoping in 9.2 we finally get our worgen request!
Careful with fake news before making a decision. Don’t trust it in real life. Don’t trust it here. Always check for yourself what is fact and fiction or just a misunderstanding.
Light skinned elves was the lore until it had to be edited to be more inclusive for the current game. Dark skin elves didn’t matter until it became a playable race. This was the correct choice by Blizzard. Warcraft lore is not a religion and people who treat it as such have a problem differentiating entertainment and reality.
Outdated lore that isn’t canon, and diversity options to allow black and brown people to exist on human skin toned races is not on the same level of a tail its just not.
I support worgen getting tails, but to say “look allowing black and brown people to exist has happened so worgen tails need to based off that” hits entirely wrong. They aren’t the same, they’ll never be the same, it was an unnecessary argument using outdated lore at that, the other worgen thread put it much better the entire OP is just “give worgen tails” thats all there is, and I agree give worgen tails.
Yeah I’m tossing that troll on ignore. It’s really disgusting how these people try to use “lore” which isn’t even valid as an excuse to argue against that stuff. Not worth the time or energy arguing with bigots who are afraid of people who exist that have different skin tones.
Or you could just not bother to reply to me because you’re not worth anyone’s time, including and especially mine. Your toxic opinion is noted and promptly ignored.
I’m starting to see why people abandoned or didn’t support this thread. It’s bringing out the bigots.
I support tails for worgen but stand by what I said before. I’m now muting this thread because I don’t have the patience to argue with people I have 0 respect for.
Not only that but it’s not necessary to try to make the reach. It’s basically saying blizzard has done this crazy lore breaking thing by allowing black and brown people to exist on human skin toned races and then drawing the equivalency to worgen tails under the guise of not being insulting but it is incredibly, blizzard has said the lack of diversity was an oversight and real life diversity like that is never going to be on the same level of a tail for worgen.
Support for worgen tails is all that needs to be said to garner more support for worgen tails.
Attacking the OP over false framing is you being toxic not I. You refusing to admit you made a mistake, and doubling down instead is also toxic. Calling me toxic for pointing it out so you could reassess your opinion of the person you were attacking to accurately reflect their opinion, is peak toxicity.
Making a mistake doesn’t make you a bad person. Everyone will make an incorrect snap judgement in their life. The difference between a good and bad person is how they handle it when the mistake is shown to them.
It became outdated due to this change. Calling something outdated when in the context it is being used is to to explain how that lore became outdated is nonsense. This logic is so circular it hurts my head.
I’m certain it is more important to YOU, but the lore relevancy is the same. The game is pretend. Representation isn’t going to change anything in the real world. Nobody is going to say “Wow dark skinned elves. I’m changing my whole worldview now!” But without question certain players are going to feel better represented by the character they play, which enhances everyone’s game. That is enough reason by itself.
The most disconcerting change, however, was the fact that they were no longer immortal or immune to the elements. They also shrank somewhat in height, and their skin lost its characteristic violet hue.
And before you go saying that isn’t the same thing, keep in mind the skin hues when this was written were monochrome. If you want to say this is a reassessment of what was there at the time, that they were there all along just nowhere in any game, and not a total retcon, that’s fine. I’m perfectly happy with the way things are now, and given the option, would have made it this way from the start. However at the time this was written it meant monochrome elves that went from purple to pink.
Black and brown people existing is not lore breaking, it was an oversight on blizzards part per their own words.
Using non canon sources to try to sensationalize the existence of black and brown people on human skin toned races in an attempt to make a reach about worgen tails isn’t it.
Trying to rationalize black and brown people existing to being lore breaking in an attempt to validate the request for a tail for worgen is in extremely poor taste, and isn’t backed by canon.
The video linked in the OP spends time on going over the issue being talked about as well, no one is false framing, the OP doubles down on it several times including earlier in this thread when it was already pointed out to them.
Whether you want to think it does or not. It only says they lost their violet hue.
Despite them not being in game they were in a book with a dark skin tone.
Both of those actual lore canonical things together indicates they did exist just fine compared to the argument “well I never saw them”.
Nothing, not a single thing, in the lore said they were all light skinned. So them being able to have those skin tones has no lore change. Nor does it cause any retcon.
Its a silly claim, a silly argument, and has no basis in lore.
Nor is it needed to claim optional Worgen Tails.
Being unable to accept that dark skin tones don’t change anything nor violate any of the lore is toxic.
Both in context of WoW and in the real world.
Ya’ll fighting a battle you don’t need to fight just to claim this falsehood and purposefully, in Yorae’s case, trying to exclude it for unrealistic reasons that don’t even remotely make sense within the context or real life time period.
Victorian era Britain didn’t have black people?
Thats the most ridiculous thing they’ve ever claimed and while it may not speak to overt racism on their part, it is racism. They really need to evaluate why they think that way.
All of this before the link Lann has where Blizzard has actively decided that they don’t need that swill to begin with and are more than happy to adjust the in game viewpoint.
OP should change that section because its 1) not necessary to prove their point as they can pull form a thousand other instances of similar levels or worse (Eredar for instance) 2) has no actual basis on the point they were making cause its not the same 1:1 comparison (Cause there isn’t anything in the lore against it) and 3) is a very bad look regardless.
Regarding the specific case of the elven races, their skin tone (or eyes) are changing more or less because of the magic that they are drawning their powers from or if they are cut from it.
That’s their lore and the Nightbornes and the Void elves are the last case, after that it’s not clear what is their base skin tone when they are completely cut from magic.
That’s part of the reasons that i wished that the black elves was developped as a separate civilization: What magic are they using to have this skin tone? Is their culture different than the elves from Silvermoon? Is there some sort of a Darkwell?
Yeah i know, some people have already told me that “we have enough elves!”
And?
Oh god… How hard it is to understand the concept itself?
An alternate timeline is what it is: Another reality that could go on a completely different way than our current reality.
I said purple dwarves as a joke meaning to say “anything is possible in an alternate timeline” but if i have to take it seriously just imagine this:
In an alternate timeline, a particular strain of the Curse of flesh - more heavily charged with Void magic - turned titanic constructs into Dwarves with a purple skin.
A “simple alteration” of the past leading to an alternate path.
