WoD > BFA?

This is a serious debate now. Around 8.1 time everyone said no no… one of the worst but not WoD bad.

Now that it’s 8.3 I think it’s very clear this is the worst expansion WoW has ever released for a variety of reasons:

-Everything felt rushed and not ready. From Azerite Gear to the necklace, nothing seemed prepared and everyone told Blizz from beta is was no go and they forced it anyways.

-Worst lore and writing. What was this expansion even about? Supposedly we were gonna fight a war but then it’s like they crammed 2 other expansions inside just to be like, “ooh hee ooh haa we’re like game of thrones weaving all these plots together” and in reality just ruining them all and rushing us through them. Don’t get me started on the Sylvanas stuff, and the 8.3 cinematic… The Shadowlands cinematic doesn’t have be excited either.

-Game systems are gutted and bad. PvP is a joke, the talent system has been ruining this game since MoP (bring back trees with spendable points like we had before). There’s no reliable vendor for pvp gear or really any gear. Titan Residuum is a band-aid. You are forced to play a casino no matter what. There is no “Now I’m finally done” BIS, you’re on a treadmill.

-Many many more

This isn’t a complete list, I encourage you to add more in the comments, shouldn’t be hard. (Islands and warfronts anyone?)

It’s just a statement that this is seriously wrong and needs improvement. This game is being actually killed by these decisions.

BfA is terrible, but at least there are things to do.

I actually think 8.3 is a good patch. It’s unfortunate that it was released in an expansion with poorly set up lore, bad class design, and the heart of azeroth system. But the patch itself I think is pretty good if I take it for what it is. I also feel like 8.2 is a good patch in a bad expansion.

So I definitely think WoD is the worst expansion, with BfA being the second-worst.

You like Horrific visions? Don’t get me wrong they are fun but they are 30 mins of content a week that you have to bust your rear doing 2 hours of much less fun content to even unlock. How do you enjoy something like that? It’s a week of waiting for a bit of fun. That’s not how major game systems should be. Say what you want about Garrisons but at least it wasn’t only 10 minutes of content a week.

I found more enjoyment in WoD than BFA

I like the horrific visions a lot, and the world quest content isn’t bad either. I like going back to Uldum and Pandaria. 2 hours seems like an exaggeration. I’m not farming, I just do the content.

I’ve been trashing BfA all expansion long, but I actually don’t regret coming back from Classic to check out 8.3

At this point… I have to agree… Atleast WoD had the excuse of having most of the content cut to dedicate resources to Legion… BfA on the other hand… was just shoddy execution of both story and content.

The only thing WoD has over BFA is no essence grind for armor etc. Pathfinder was born in that expansion I wasn’t fond of that crap.

Wod had no:

  1. Infinite grind
  2. legendary cloak with grind
  3. essence grind
  4. GCD on cooldowns

Based on this WoD > BFA

I think we’re at the point where they’re close enough that I wouldn’t criticize anyone for thinking either is worse. WoD had no content but still decent class design. BFA has tons of content that makes itself worthless and/or painful, and terrible class design.

6.1 was a better patch than 8.3

Wouldnt say BFA is bad , more like its bland … Its like they tried to please every single wow player in history inside the same expansion …which was way too hard of a task , you can’t make every snowflake happy and hopefully they learned this.

See everyone complaining about how blizzard is not the same company , it’s only this bad because they listened to some . (proof check forums of any game , always someone unhappy with something even if a lot of people enjoy said something)

For those pointing out the story; yes BfA’s story is the worst out of any expansion.

WoD’s alternate timeline/universe crossover thing was a hot mess, but it did have some redeeming qualities once you get past the scifi mumbo jumbo and accept that you’re just in Draenor now. BfA destroyed entire character arcs irrepairably.

BFA is better. Class design is better too.

Class design was 100% better in WoD are you delusional?

About as serious as the other couple of wod vs Bfa threads made over the last week, or two lol.

This is exactly what I was going to type. WoD is the only point in the last 11 years where I actually turned my sub off because I was just completely out of relevant things to do.

WoD was better to me. With the pockets of gameplay that I actually got to do I enjoyed it. I hated everything I did in BFA. Even leveling.

Having hardcore’d through both WoD & BfA beginning to end, I still place BfA > WoD. The middle of the WoD story was pulled entirely, so the ending just kind of… appeared. The final WoD patch stayed overlong. BfA’s ending has been weak, admittedly, but the story from A->B has flowed (even if not in the exact ways people wanted). That’s a marked improvement.

It did have a legendary ring grind .

Not complaining enjoyed the quest chain for it and leveling it in HFC a lot more then the Legiondary Participation Trophies
