WOD > BFA in overall "fun" (especially alts)

This is what I always remember when I think about WoD. Believe me, I wanted to leave my garrison and do stuff. I even cycled out buildings to try and get more quests from them to feel like I had SOME purpose to go out there, but there really was no reason to go out there and do things. No reason to do reputations, gathering Apexis was beyond pointless until, what, a year after initial release?

It felt like there was no game to be played. Raiding was fun for a bit but it got so boring so fast. At least with BfA, different seasons gave me more incentive to play. At least BfA has Mythic scaling dungeons, as much as the OP would like to insist we had in WoD.

Kind of like kissing your sister huh? Nobody wins.

The point is, it would be sad to make a comparison to WoD. Sadly, annoying elements or mechanics that feel like work pull the score down significantly on BFA.

They should have called Battle For Azeroth, Battle for Assets

Nazjatar = Azuna 2.0
Ulduum = Didn’t even bother to pretend what they were doing.
Vale = “ditto” Heck, they even pulled out the old quests to do for a AP
Legion 2.0 = “Now with more grinding” - Half the fun, with double the calories
Corrupted gear = Legion legendary 2.0 - Now with 3 ranks
Neck = Less cooler then the weapon
Mage tower = Oh wait, no
didn’t do the thing everyone liked
Kul Tiras Island = Booty bays older brother fresh out of rehab
Zandalar = If duskwallow marsh had a baby with booty bay’s illegitimate child of Desolace

I guess, being fair, Burning Crusade space element was different. How different can everything be on the planet
 I guess
I do think that this expansion had some cool looking models and artwork in various areas.

at the end of the day, WoD is still better because you could play other things and enjoy it when you sat down to it. /shrug

I don’t feel forced to do any of it, so it’s not a problem for me. I understand some people need to 100% everything, so I can understand if they feel overwhelmed by the amount of “chores” they have on their plate.

Not me, tho, I don’t play this game like a second job. If i’m not having fun, I just don’t do it.

Ahhhh, so you’re from West Virginia or Alabama. Suddenly your whole thread makes way more sense now.

Bfa alts. LMAO man i needed that laugh .

Wod didn’t punish you for doing my 2 favorite activities: raid logging and playing alts.

There was so much stuff to do in WoD, I have no idea what you’re talking about.

  • Timewalking
  • Building your garrison.
  • Garrison building with dailies, kill quests, etc.
  • Tanaan jungle and apexis grind.
  • Random BGs.
  • Ashran.
  • PEPEEEEE
  • Some really great raids with actual tier sets.
  • An alt friendly xpac

What did we get with 8.3? Two reused zones, and a raid with terrible looking one size fits all tier sets. Oh, and we got two gearing systems that almost no one likes - azerite and corruption.

BfA is by far the worst expansion in wows history.

The video puts it rather succinctly.

Why am I getting the suspicion you’re inferring too much and trying to associate me with your family reunions? Or perhaps you’ve never heard of the expression.

Great points, I forgot about pepe and Garrison is about as close as player housing got for WoW.

WoD didn’t have any punishing systems because that would require any systems.

I was making a little rib, all in good fun
Unless of course that little joke struck too close to home for you.

WoD “Ya I didn’t do that good, but I don’t think anything could be much worse”
BFA “Hold my beer
”

We’re making an expansion about Horde vs. Alliance!

Uh, we’re making an expansion about pirates and trolls!

Erm, we’re making an expansion about the void?

All along they were making an expansion about tentacles.

The judges all awarded a perfect 10.

Oddly I feel I’ve been tentacled.

Somehow I feel you’re trying to draw some sort of correlation with yourself here and I can’t help but feel bad your parents told you that sort of behavior is normal. It’s not and stop projecting.

WoD didn’t give us more alt options. WoD did not give us Vulpera. therefore, BFA > the WoD in terms of fun for alts.

granted it has added a lot of power requirements that alts can not possibly obtain within a week of hitting max level. it would take them months by sheer virtue of rep gating and resource grinding.
ilvl isn’t even the final stage in bringing them up to speed.
the legendary cape isn’t simply a end game raid requirement. its needed for even the casual use of the gear effects out of dungeons.

but in terms of leveling Alts, BfA gives plenty to do~

Alts and new races that are locked away behind massive grinds for each
no thanks!

WoD had CMs, good raids, better class design, ashran and no horrible rng/gearing systems holding it down.

If M+ was implemented in WoD, we wouldn’t even be having this discussion.

So in short, WoD >>>> BfA

Mythic dungeons was added in WoD, the basis for taking that a step further. The Garrison was miss handled so no, M+ would not have done much without other systems also.
As the Garrison was not just a personal instance, it provided everything you needed to the point that people were trapped inside them. hours of playing mission tables.
the world felt empty because everyone was in their own instance.
BFA patches have added lots of new things, even if they are over gated.
WoD gave us the Selfie camera as a notable patch. that’s a lot of content right there

CMs never felt fun imo.
Ashran
really? that was suppose to be a world pvp map not an instance.

Exactly this FFXIV is the only fix for the addiction i once had to WoW. Just check back in here and there to see if things started going in the right direction again. Sadly they are not.

Are you high? The biggest gripe that people had with WoD was lack of content, which M+ would’ve absolutely helped with. Especially given how alt friendly it was.

First of all Garrisons were a huge source of gold, that people are still living off of to this day. Secondly, no one forced you to sit in there. I leveled a bunch of alts and ran them through raids and CMs, while spending minimal time in my garrisons. Plenty of people spent a lot of time in Ashran for pvp.

Those are all social activities, so the the only person holding you back from interacting with the world would’ve been you.

The only good thing about BfA has been the raids and the art. The rest has been time-gated, unbalanced, and terrible systems piled on top of one another. Balance and pvp are an absolute crap shoot, while the devs have shown us time and again that they have no foresight for the things that they’re implementing. Most of the “content” has been copy/paste of existing assets.

I see that you never actually completed the CMs. On the contrary, they were very fun and laid the groundwork for the M+ system that we have now. You only had to do it once to get the rewards but I still ran multiple alts through them because they were fun and it was nice to help people with their achievements.
