I agree with the cost reduction being a superior argument as opposed to dual spec. I think there are even add ons that can save your templates when you do respec? That with a lower cost would solve the issue in a much more realistic way imo IF they were going to intervene.
Whatâs killing it is that they pitched an old game to new gamers through offering a paid boost. So now the people playing it just want an easy convenient way to grind purple pixels from old defeated easy bosses.
The only problem with new games is the difficulty of learning new bosses. TBC doesnât have that issue, easy done bosses. Just get your boost and grab your loot, oh wait thereâs still grinding in this game ⌠Fix it!!!
The gutter trash comparison only need a lol.
This thread is right below the âNo, we seriously DONâT all want Dual Spec in TBCâ thread.
Who thinks the OPs of each should duke it out in a duel?
Did you seriously just cite an online poll from a retail-focused site with over 30% disapproval with a pathetically small 199 sample size to claim ânear universal approvalâ?
Hold up, let me send a shoutout to my guildâs discord and completely shift the pollâŚ
And - it passes the common sense test.
Why would you bring out an old game simply to âfixâ it to the standards of the new game? Itâs basically then the new game with only old outdated content (no new content) ⌠pointless.
Theyâre line in the sand makes sense, they want to it to still be the old game, even with some changes.
People seem to only hear âchangesâ when they say âsome changesâ. But theyâre not committing to a lot of changes. They committing to the possibility of some changes that donât break the identity of the game.
The line people have been pushing of âoh thereâs been a change so you canât stop all the changes nowâ is ludicrous. Itâs also absurd to presume itâs a popularity contest for everyoneâs favourite features of all time.
I love how Blizzard basically says everything weâve been saying! And I honestly havenât even done as much research on this as you have. I mostly say what should obvious. Every time I see a new quote I hadnât before it just reaffirms what Iâve said on the matter.
Where do people even get the idea that the ability to switch specs somehow makes content easier? No amount of thought could ever reach that conclusion. Must be that people just arenât thinking, they just went with it as an excuse because theyâre obligatorily naysaying any changes for its own sake.
In particular, the fact that they had to even say, ââŚplayers can do that alreadyâ is all but acknowledging that these people have no idea what theyâre talking about when it comes to raiding regularly.
âDual spec wonât suddenly make those situations trivial. They may make them slightly more convenient.â
Exactly!
Grinding is a good thing. But the grind has to feel worth grinding.
If you grind for exalted reputation, then you have accomplished something. If you grind to get gold for an epic mount, then you have accomplished something. If you grind to make a bis piece of gear, then you have accomplished something.
Grinding just so you can PvP for the day, doesnât feel like an accomplishment. It feels like a job. A job where you donât even get paid.
There is no such thing.
Better question would be, why would you not do that?
âAny opinion I donât agree with is trashâ
There was nothing to bring back it was already there. Itâs almost like you never played the OG.
Face it, you just hate old school RPG games. Good news though, you have a bastardized version to play. Have at it.
I feel like those who are asking for additions to the classic versions we have so far should really take in the content of this video. What people call QoL changes, are more or less adding convenience. However, that convenience is what makes the game less rewarding. And not in the sense of âI got loot! So Rewarding!â but rather the actual effort and success being the reward.
People may recall the term âWelfare Epicsâ. Which started in this expansion with the Shattered Sun Offensive dailies providing epic items for minimal effort. Granted, that was put in as a catch up mechanic, but the way it was seen, was as if the items werenât âEarnedâ. You donât have to put in nearly the same amount of effort and coordination to get these items, which are better than early raid tiers, and better than Heroic Dungeon drops.
Convenience is for short term games. MMOs werenât meant to be short term commitments back then, and when I heard we were getting these classic versions, I was excited for the lack of convenience, and ready to dig in for the long haul. But for some reason, people are shouting from the rooftops asking for things that will shorten the lifespan of content. The faster people burn through things, the faster they will stop logging in. The more and more people who arenât logging in, makes it more difficult for those who remain to find people to play with. The less people there are for people to play with, the more people will leave. It is a downward spiral that can be prevented by not adding things that will shorten the time people need to spend in the game.
Give the video a watch, it is well put together, and really explains what I am trying to convey much better.
Thereâs better ways to implant gold sinks that donât directly cause lower player interaction.
Lowering player engagement is NEVER a good thing, no matter what elitists want to think
A real fan if tbc would know that as good as it was that it could still be better and would want it to be better.
No true Scotsman âŚ
Very true.
The OP got 48 likes supporting dual spec and the following post against DS has 75 likes so far. So if there was a blue response based on what forum users want it probably wouldnât be what the OP was hoping for.
The forums do not equal the Majority, and neither does reddit, people really need to understand the Majority rarely if at all step into the forums or reddit, itâs why many issues are echoâd because most are happily playing the game, and no 10 people in your guild still isnât a majority.
