I think I know why he’s joining. There were talks of making Diablo 4 more of an ‘over the shoulder’ sort of game, with an open world. The way it was described, it sounded a lot like what the Witcher 3 turned out to be. My guess is he’ll be working on Diablo 4.

No. All that Wowhead reported was that he is joining Blizzard. We don’t know anything beyond that.
Watch him get contracted to work on said mobile game or something that isn’t WoW. I wouldn’t be surprised, too many people having too many high hopes that can very well be dashed quickly considering there isn’t anything concrete on his position. Diablo 4 perhaps… for now it’s a nice piece of news but interesting to see where he lands.
Hopefully he can fix the writing because its gotten really bad.
I have no information, but I would guess if he’s coming on now, and if he’s going to be involved with creative decisions for WoW, it probably won’t be felt until the next expansion, which I imagine is already being worked on. But I love Witcher 3 so this is good news to me.
I am hopeful but it really depends what he is going to be working on. Going to be completely honest I don’t want to get my hopes up and find out that as one of their new top tier people he is going to go to mobile, to make an “immersive” iPhone experience.
That said… We find out he is going to be the solely needed adult supervision in charge of wow I will be doing back flips.
I would think and hope it’s for Diablo 4. I doubt seriously they would pay for high caliber talent to put towards and aging mmo that’s on maintenance mode while it continues to fleece us. However, given Blizzards recent activities it’s probably something mobile related. Just my opinions…

Honestly I question that man’s sanity. His addition would’ve been great before BfA, but everything after Legion 7.2 has just been garbage and he’s got a lot of pants-on-head stupid stuff to work with.
- Entire Void Elf race pulled out of nowhere and their racial leader hasn’t even committed to whether or not she’s one of them.
- Vindicaar is in the Alliance arsenal but is ignored for some reason
- Timey Wimey Orcs now made part of the persistent canon instead
- All-consuming, all-devouring Void characterized as ‘good in the right circumstances’.
- Life-giving, radiant Light characterized as ‘can actually be really bad sometimes’
- Horde as mustache-twirling villains
- Horde doing another story about their identity because suddenly the Darkspear Rebellion story didn’t do a good enough job.
- Alliance as the guys and gals that can do no wrong, defanging Genn and utterly failing to present the Kaldorei activity in Darkshore as a source if any derision between the leadership.
Maybe this guy’s under duress. Do we know Blizz hasn’t kidnapped his family or something?

For the same reason the Horde doesn’t have Nightborne set up a portal to Anduin’s bedroom and send Gob Squad to leave suitcase nukes under his bed synced to his alarm clock - an unnecessarily powerful weapon with no possible counter.
Besides, the Alliance already has an insurmountable pile of overwhelming super weapons that would cause a balls-out Horde vs. Alliance battle to be finished in about an hour with 100% Horde casualties, were it not for the plot armor Alliance players continually gripe about.
