Wishes for Midnight

I just want a game that isn’t super buggy with 5 second random lag spikes out in the open world.

I hope Blizzard removes having to have tiers for profession items reduce the amount of vendor mats needed in professions.

Stopped reading here. Just bad bad writing.

I want the Horde to be relevant outside of its elves. That is my only wish.

…I mean the elves are a given.

I would love to see Azuremyst, Bloodmyst, Eversong, and Ghostlands brought into Azeroth.

It would be a ton of work to make that whole place 3D and they’ve made no indication that they’ll ever do it. But I’d like it.

Paladins for all races.

This is a neat idea… I’m not sure it would work logistically considering they’re probably going to make Eversong/Ghostlands far larger than they originally were, and if they attached it to the Azeroth make they’d have to make Eastern Kingdoms like 50% bigger than it is right now :sob: but it’s a fun thing to think about!!!

I’m always a fan of expansion of race/class combos… I’d especially love to see night elf Paladins of Elune—it’d especially make sense to give us that update if they really do mean ALL elves when they say Midnight will be about elves.

I hope for a new race that isn’t a reskin of a race we already have (example: no more dwarves of any flavor, but something that gives off unique vibes, such as the Sethrakk or Arokkoa).

Future gear (so nothing before Midnight) to have some sort of dye system. Doesn’t have to be all gear, but some mog to have that option.

Clipping issues to be looked into, on a race by race, or body type basis.

More customization for shaman ghost wolf.

More glyphs for spells.

More druid bear/cat forms.

New skeletons for models to be put into the game, so we aren’t reskinning the same protodrake/dragon/hippogryph another 50 times.

New animations for mounts/pets.

More voice choices for your character.

New weapons to be introduced, such as whips and lances.

My hope is going forward no race locked classes. I just dont care anymore about terribly written lore that stops ppl from playing a race.

That and i hope silvermoon is a hub. It is a wasted city atm. I would rather it be a neutral city than be a city that is completely pointless.

The only thing i want is to have playable Forest Trolls. I have been waiting for 20 long years…

I’m going to go with “Phoeni” pronounced “Fee Nai”.

bring back real alleria.

Ohhh man I would LOVE this!!!

Please!!! I feel like Blizz often falls short with class fantasy (see: Hero Talents that look cool but you shouldn’t really choose because they’re not optimal). The best way to ensure class fantasy is cosmetic glyphs that affect your existing abilities!! No gameplay is impacted, and you get to choose what you want based purely on aesthetic.

Big agree. I’ve been a blood elf player for many many years, and spent much of that time RPing in Silvermoon, and I’d happily give up the city’s Horde status if it meant that it actually can be more than just an unused ghost town.

This is a new one to me. Prior to BC he was just a ranger lord, and only stepped up to temporarily lead the belves in Kaels absence. Then found himself ending up being the leader after Kael died because everyone liked him and relied on him, and ever since then did everything out of a sense of duty towards his people, even though he never even wanted to lead. I’m not aware if any failings, nor of anything he needs to be held accountable for. In fact, out of all the Horde leaders, he’s the most level headed and most willing to make the hard decisions that will benefit his people the most.

He’s been portrayed as entirely noble and wise in recent years, which I believe to be something of a sanitization of his character. In truth, he has exiled people for disagreeing with him politically (and though he has privately regretted it, he has never actually apologized or gone back on his decision… and he then proceeded to make a similar knee-jerk decision again out of fear when exiling the void elves instead of trying to find a way to make things work with them).

Additionally, he is quite adamant about the fact that there will never again be a King of Quel’Thalas—something that is proudly touted as a sign of democracy or something, when in fact he has more concentrated power than the kings of Quel’Thalas ever did (they had checks and balances in place in the form of the Convocation of Silvermoon, which was wiped out during the Fall and which Lor’themar, to our knowledge, has never reinstated).

I think he’s a good guy and his heart is in the right place, but he shouldn’t have all that power resting in just his hands. It was never that way in the past, and he should have made an effort to restore the Convocation of Silvermoon so that he wasn’t the sole authority over all of Quel’Thalas. Because he holds all the power, he is able to make knee-jerk reactionary decisions that harm his people and that he later comes to regret. If that power was more spread out through a governing body like it used to be, the entire country’s fate wouldn’t be reliant upon one man’s judgment—a judgment which, by his own admission, has failed him in the past.

Those exiles were actually for disagreeing with High Magister Rommaths teachings for draining mana out of creatures to survive, who was there doing so under the orders of at the time leader Kaelthas. Lorthemar was in service of Kael and thus was more naturally inclined to follow the example his leader was setting, and given the state of Silvermoon at the time (which was still freshly ruined from the Scourge and the loss of tbe Sunwell, and still suffered from a heavy Scourge infestation) he couldn’t afford dissent. He honestly made the right call.

He doesn’t have the power of a king. He relies heavily on the council of Rommath and Haldurin primarily, but also of Liadrin and Aethas. He’s also offered to step down on several occasions but continues to rule simply because his people want him to. His one moment of ambition was to become Warchief in MoP, an idea that was planted into his head by his advisors, but gladly stepped aside for Voljin.

As for the Void Elves, the Sunwell, the very thing that the Blood Elves depend upon to survive, and currently a font of Light, came under severe attack from the void just because one single void elf got close to it. Alleria wasn’t even intending on it and couldn’t control it. The void itself is a severe threat, and it should be reminded that even without considering the sunwell, the void is widely considered taboo and extremely dangerous, evil even. Exiling a subset of elves that were essentially becoming a void cult and deliberately infusing themselves with void was honestly merciful. They could have been restrained or executed. And frankly, considering their presence in Silvermoon is a severe threat to the entire blood elf civilization… they were let off very easily

Imo there’s never any excuse for a government to remove someone from their home for their political beliefs. But I’m sure there are those that would disagree—I mean, a lot of blood elves believe as you do. But I think it’s poor writing if ALL blood elves are cool with that; more realistically, I think a large portion of them wouldn’t be, considering it separated them from their loved ones. I think it would make more sense if there was political discomfort in Silvermoon, perhaps even underground insurrection, and Lor’themar’s urge is to act on instinct and gut feeling as he has in the past—but he has to learn to listen and adjust instead. A character without flaws/development is boring… he should be allowed a little growth.

He himself doesn’t think he made the right call! He just hasn’t admitted it out loud. He should do that.

I mean, kings have advisors and whatnot all the time—that’s pretty common. But at the end of the day, they’re just advisors; he’s the one with all the power. In fact, when said advisors have disagreed with him in the past, he was quick to remind them that he rules Quel’Thalas and their place is to obey his orders.

I don’t remember voting for him!! :triumph:

As for the void elf situation—the issue only occurred when Alleria (who surely has far more void power inside her than any void elf) approached the heart of the Sunwell. I’d say banning void elves from going anywhere near the Isle of Quel’Danas is a reasonable decision (albeit one that should have been debated upon by a governing body of some kind, not made at the drop of a hat by one man). But to perform no research, make no rehabilitation efforts, nothing—to simply decide all of a sudden that a chunk of your citizens are banned from their entire homeland—that’s a very extreme thing to do, especially when you hold regret over doing exactly that a few years prior.

I don’t think he’s a bad guy. And I think a lot of this is simply based on opinion. But that’s the thing—I think differing opinions should be heard in the narrative. I’m afraid that they’ll gloss over it and pretend that everyone sees Lor’themar as a hero, when in truth a more realistic narrative would involve dissent and opportunities for Lor’themar to learn and grow as a leader. I want to see real political plot and complex characters, not just good guys versus bad guys. That’s what it all boils down to.

I think this kind of conversation we’re having is something I want to see happening in game, not just between two lore nerds on the forums. And I worry that we won’t see it—or if we do, it’ll be simplified into high elf/void elf opinion vs blood elf opinion, forcing the entire blood elven population into a homogenized singular political persuasion. But I think maybe my story-telling expectations are too high… I can’t say there’s been much lately in the narrative that gives me hope we’ll get a super nuanced complex political story in Midnight. But an elf can dream…

all this elf stuff makes me less excited for Midnight…

The Amani were asked politely to share their land and their response was to commit genocide.

They’re evil, like 90% of the Horde. Pretty much the only neutral-to-good races in the Horde are the Tauren and the Darkspear tribe. And the Goblins.

I hope they add a sandboxed adventure zone with hidden secrets and an item you can build up over the patch. Something similar to Timeless Isle or Mechagon. It has been a long time since we did that.
