One of the many reasons to literally delete addons.
No more LUA errors when its part of the base UI in Midnight.
Midnight can’t come soon enough.
Hello interns.
Btw you all know you can turn off LUA errors right? I have not seem one for years.
Also stop lying, DBM hasnt been throwing lua errors for years.
you can turn off the reporting, but that doesn’t stop the errors from happening and impacting game-play.
I kind of actually agree with this, but not for the same reasons lol.
The majority of the people that play this game have absolutely no clue what is going on, with the various changes that are coming. Most aren’t keeping up with UI/API changes and having some of the changes in the game now would either A), allow people to adjust, or B), go ahead and freak out so we can see how much
is going to hit the fan lol.
Getting LUA errors all the time in beta with no addons. You’re foolish to think Blizzard’s attempt at addons is going to be better than those that have been established for 20 years.
I’m in the same boat.
Upon hearing about the upcoming addon purge, I took initiative and pre-purged all of my addons ahead of time to prepare.
I’ve gotten my UI to about 95% of what I had previously with addons and got used to the Blizzard UI in just a few minutes of gameplay.
I’m currently addonless and plan to remain so throughout Midnight and beyond.
Can’t wait for Midnight release for more features to be released. ![]()
PS: Thanks for making this thread as I forgot to uninstall CurseForge, finally did it. ![]()
I loathe lua errors, TFYM altoholic is stopping me from using an item in my inventory.
“Blizzard told me addons are bad and I believe every word they say, they are literal gods of the universe and if I kiss the ground they walk upon, I might get 1 month of sub time free.” - Dirtyboy 2k25. ![]()
item usage DENIED.
Hi all, I promise you I am not working for Blizzard in any capacity, nor have I ever. I simply appreciate the base UI getting love since I prefer the base UI over addons. I’ve played this game a long time, and never much liked the concept of having to go to a 3rd party website for gameplay needs. I’ve absolutely dabbled in many addons over the years, but I always come back to the baseline UI as much as possible. It’s the best.
If you’ve seen any of my past posts you’d know I’m critical of Blizzard quite often, but IMO the new UI changes are a total win for all players, new and old. Gotta praise a win when there’s a win.
You never had to. Just like mods in every single player game.
You’re welcome.
Thanks to you and your ilk, we, who like customizing the game get shafted.
The base UI has always been subpar and will remain so.
The addon nuke will backfire spectacularly.
12.0 is on January 20 so its not long away and any addons that don’t update to 12.0 just break so if you have any old ones that are no longer being updated, they’re good as dead unless someone takes over and updates them.
Well I do apologize for being of the ilk that has ruined your LFR ands solo content combat addons. I will pray that you find success in your future trials. I’m sure it’ll be difficult to overcome those game modes without combat addons, but somehow, I feel like a brave hero such as yourself will overcome and adapt!
Blizzard won’t be able to blame addons at random in midnight you mean?
I don’t do higher level content simply for a lack of interest, not ability.
I’m pretty sure I’d be able to at least get (non-carry) CE and whatever is the highest keystone achievement if I cared enough.
That level of commitment is something I left back in Wrath.
Measuring people for the level of content they do (ad hominem) means your own argument is weak since it can’t be sustained by itself.
That’s the level of rhetoric of many people in these forums, ad hominem, appeal to authority, slippery slopes and other similar logical fallacies.
I don’t even care about “combat addons” (DBM, rotation helpers, automated Weak Auras and such), they can all be gone and it won’t matter all.
But unit frames, nameplates and many QoL ones are getting nuked due to this.
The core usage for Weak Aura (displaying a buff/debuff of our choice in a more relevant way) should at the very least be a part of the base UI for over a decade now.
I did love the base UI too, before getting to know about the vastly superior replacements, but it’s woefully bad for even the slightest bit of relevant info. Something as simple as highlighting/fading for range checking (very useful for summons and healing) isn’t available there, nor is customizing shown data for relevant info.
I’d be all for the baseUI being improved, but in due time, not as a rush job to get a worse version of what we have.
Sure, the changes do “level the playing field”, but in the worst possible way: by making everyone worse off.
I personally do not care for the nameplates and personal resource display on Beta and would much rather keep the current versions of them.
Simply stating a plain fact that the content you do can literally be done while AFK. Stop crying about how you coulda shoulda woulda.
Not to mention I’m getting lua errors on the beta while running zero add-ons.
Anyways, Blizzard finally providing basic gameplay information within the base UI like with the addition of the new boss alerts feature is an improvement.
Nuking many existing add-ons players have used for twenty plus years to customize game data before their own tools are even ready, however, is asinine.
What’s cool is they could have done these changes without removing add ons.
