Wind Totem AoE

Just curious, why do the AOE builds not use Wind Totem? I’m only seeing it being used in the ST builds. Would it be a considerable DPS loss if brought into M+ and other dungeon scenarios?

The M+ builds are picking up Crash Lightning and Crashing Storms so I’m guessing Windfury Totem and Ice Strike are just the best points to move to pick them up.

Two factors:

Windfury Totem’s effect solely applies to main hand auto-attack damage, which we have no way of spreading, such as Outlaw’s Blade Flurry. As such, it has no AoE impact whatsoever for the shaman.

The other issue is that most single target builds are raid-oriented. Windfury Totem is relatively low value to the shaman themself; its real value is buffing allies, but its effect solely applies to melee attacks. Raid groups can consistently field enough melee characters to make the totem’s value to the group outweigh the opportunity cost to the shaman’s personal dps, but M+ groups rarely have more than two other melee in the party, including the tank, greatly reducing its value.
