Unfortunately, you’re going to find that a lot of software will stop working for you if you’re not updating your OS. I learned this when I tried to install the Discord app on a computer running Windows Vista.
(You can’t.)
Not to mention, running on older OS versions is a very severe security risk, regardless of precautions: Since Win 7 is no longer officially supported by Microsoft, it won’t get patches for any exploits that remain.
It’s highly recommended you bump up to Win 10, at least. I think there’s some tricks you can pull to make it have a Win 7 style desktop!
I dont. Too bad you have such a linear way of thinking that you assume if I don’t have the thing everyone else is talking about then I must have the only other option… things is. Its not one or the other. Not having one thing doesnt automatically mean that I have the only other option that you are capable of thinking of.
No, I figure you’re some kind of Mac or Linux user at this point, thinking you have fat security somehow when there’s just as many CVEs, remote code executions and local privilege escalations in those OSes as there are in Windows.
This is objectively not true. There hasn’t been a security update for windows 7 in two years. The target for almost all hacking/worms/trojans, etc are older people who aren’t very tech savvy who still have computers that are dinosaurs running old OS’s.
Why? Because they don’t update their security ever. Which means the bad folks have unlimited amounts of time to create and fine-tune the best possible security compromising tools possible.
Those “back-to-back” updates in windows 10 are how they fix security holes and issues as soon as they become apparent.
An actual computer programmer will know how to get around that stuff. That is a fact.
Yes I know you do. 100% of the time there is an argument on line, the person who began it is ALWAYS the expert in the field. I have met more PHDs and Navy SEALs and Nuclear Engineers online than I could ever hope to meet in real life.
Highly doubt you have any IT xp at all. NONE. You seem rather insecure in your abilities and had to jump in and flex and flaunt as soon as you had the chance and are refusing to back off until you are proven right.
How does a “programmer” get around kernel bugs that Microsoft won’t patch anymore ?
You’re free to believe what you want. But you think a “programmer” can somehow magically fix a local privilege escalation in a closed source kernel.
Whatever floats your boat dude.
Yeah you got me, I’m totally an auto mechanic. Have you checked your brake pad thickness recently ? That might be why you’re hearing a grinding noise. Take it in, I’ll hook you up with a full clean up on those discs and replace all your worn out pads on the cheap.
I know it’d be wonderful to not use windows or have a choice but face facts. Linux is a pain in the but to use and no one has time for all that nonsense so until a real player joins the OS landscape we are defeated. Update because once you get all your assets hacked it will be too late.
Thats your proof that you’re a programmer? Throwing out terms. You would know that Windows 7 is still good for many things even today. Me saying it is good does not mean that I use it. Me not using it does not auto mean I am using Linux either. That is why I said I doubted what you claim. You only come at me with the most cliche of answers and thats just how it is.
The fact that you felt the need to flex right off the bat and start insulting every OS that is not yours and then brag about your abilities is something anyone does when they are not sure of themselves. That is why I do not believe you. That and that fact that you throw out random programming lingo that isn’t even relevant to the situation.
I assumed you were. We are online and you bean an argument that you really need to win. If I mention how WoW runs on C and all that, then of course you’d be a C programmer too. Thats how it goes on the internet.
