Vanilla was great, but I’ve been there, done that, don’t need to see it again. If my guild makes an effort to raid in Classic I might. I didn’t do Nax during Vanilla or participate in the opening of or raiding of AQ.
I will not be playing classic. Did it once, the current game is much better than classic. I can’t see going backwards.
Also, the forums are dominated by the few. The snowflakes seem attracted to this tool and fill it with their view of the world in disproportionate volume.
My in game experience with things like lfd and lfr rarely mirror the bile seen here.
I suspect classic will appeal to a very small hard core group.
Probably. I miss the old Plaguelands and a few other zones that Cata changed so drastically. That said, I’d prefer if “Classic WoW” went all the way up to WOTLK.
I’ll be playing, oh heck yes I’ll be playing
I left Vanilla WoW to play City of Heroes.
Funny… now that Classic is coming up… City of Heroes rogue servers are cropping up… I may end up leaving WoW again, for the same reason.
I certainly won’t be playing Classic, I hope it’s everything folks hope it will be, but I didn’t really start enjoying WoW until Cata / MoP and later.
I’ll give ya these two at least… but to be fair the best BGs all come from classic.
Hell Yeah!
Most certainly. I may not play it full time but it would be perfect to jump in right now when I am bored of doing WQ in BFA.
Yes.
Nostalgia.
Maybe for a month or two.
I wasn’t around for launch (started in MoP, so I’m gonna poke my head in as a history lesson of sorts, since it’s a part of WoW’s past I never saw as intended.
Long term we shall see, though I know a lot of my guildmates won’t because they’ve been playing since Vanilla and all agree it’s terrible compared to today.
Classic is a niche for some whom believe that it will somehow restore how WoW was for its first 6 years. The things is, people like myself can list just as much that was wrong about the game back then as you can list now days. It just a different list.
A cold reset per say in the game is not going to bring back 13 million subs. Nor will it bring back the old community that has died over the years. That is the pipe dream of classic.
At the start you will see a flux of people trying it out and taking a look, but in time it will dry up to just those whom love to be stuck in a bubble that will never be moving forward or changing. And I suspect even they in time will get bored and tired of that world of warcraft.
Myself I not losing any sleep over it. Its an option, one that I not really into.
No, not interested. The things that made classic what it was are gone; the friends and family playing, and the community aspects that I can’t see being revisited again. It was also a timely game, in that the things it offered were new and exciting and approachable and different…games, even this one, have come a long way since then.
I’m not a nostalgic person, though, so maybe for people that are it’s a nice trip down memory lane. That doesn’t give it lasting power, though. Leveling being the game is correct, but we’ve already played that game. The raids were awful compared to what’s around now, if you’re a raider (Molten Core was so, so boring). PvP was enjoyable back then, but with a community that’s already dissected it and knows all the tricks and exploits and so on that doesn’t have its luster either, especially on maps we’ve been playing in more or less the same form for 15 years. No transmog is enough reason for me not to play, but even for the people who will be it won’t be the same… sitting on your horse in Ironforge with your T1 or T2 gear isn’t going to impress anyone, since virtually everyone who plays can do that content in their sleep now, has already seen it all anyway, and it won’t be an exclusive club like it used to be.
I doubt that most people want that old game back as much as they just want to be playing as if classic was new, but for all those reasons that’s just not going to be how it is this time around.
Wrong forum. Been there, done that for me. Will never do it again.
