I think the prevalent theory is that, if someone the devs (who are located in China) give a key to talks about those topics, the Chinese government might claim it means the devs give their support to the streamer’s views and take action against the company.
Which is absurd, of course, but then the Chinese government has a habit of being rather irrational.

I will never pre-order another game. Unless there are advanced reviews with reason to trust they weren’t paid for. Even then. Starfield clearly had a bunch of sponsored advance reviews that were total BS. There are only a handful of games I’ve bought near release, paid full price for, and didn’t regret it.

We’re not talking forums (which are designed as communal talking spaces where you need to apply moderation to stop people getting into fights, as we’re want to do), we’re talking streaming, where 90% of the reason people come is to see the streamer in question. Completely different subject.
