I have crafters on both Horde and Alliance but certain ones are a higher level and have better abilities than others. I’d love to be able to accept and/or place orders across to the other faction as it would open up a lot of work and help make the crafting side of things more fun.
Has there ever been any indication or mention of xfaction crafting coming at any stage?
Edit: a few people have said its possible for opposite faction characters in the same guild (ie Horde in Alliance guild). I’m aware of that but not everyone has a bnet friend to invite them to such a guild. I’m talking about my Horde tailor being able to accept an order from an Alliance player via the order system. Obviously you can’t do it via ingame Trade chat, but why not via the very system that was designed for people to be able to place orders through?

It technically already is in the game. The characters need to be in the same cross faction guild.

You can also pick up public orders from the opposite faction. I had to log onto a Horde toon recently to talk to a customer about materials used.
That’s more attention than I’ve ever seen from a public order, what was the issue? I once tried to talk some sense into someone sending rank 1 mats and forcing rank 5 result for a personal craft and it was like talking to a brick wall.

They had T2 materials in it, and I prefer to max an order for a customer so they don’t have to recraft it later.
That’s not the only problem with lower rank mats apparently or so I’ve heard. There’s a quality counter tacked to the craft and even recrafting with r3 might not be enough to full rank a recraft, you might need to send multiple recrafts.
Must have been a fairly recent change then, cause I was under the impression they are faction locked.
In fact, it seems like a fair number of folks are under that impression as I’ve seen folks say plenty of times that they can’t be sent cross faction 0_o
In any case, here’s what it says on Wowhead:
- Public Work Orders can be seen by anyone on your server with the appropriate profession, and can be filled on a first-come-first-serve basis. Personal Work Orders are sent directly to a specific player, and can only be completed by that player. Guild Work Orders serve as a sort of in-between: not fully Public, but also not Personal, these orders can be seen by anyone within your Guild who has the appropriate Profession. Patron orders, meanwhile, are sent from NPCs - meaning their orders will always remain up until completed or refreshed on the same schedule that World Quests cycle.
Don’t know who’s told you that but work orders were always cross faction, just not cross server, but now they’re cross server IF you’re in the same guld
They just need to make Trade Chat cross faction. The only time I get horde orders are from guildies or people who have used me for crafting prior.
