BFA & SL have been relatively smooth when the game actually launched. For OCE servers most issues were solved by day 2 and there wasn’t much of a queue to begin with for retail.
SL did postpone their release for almost 30 days though, being 1 day from launch I think it’s safe to say that DF won’t be delayed.
Personally I’m not taking any time off as M+/Raid will not be released for a while and there is no reason to no life the game unless you’re trying to make a ton of gold.
Two different beasts. Sharding is for people in game but the login servers themselves have a limit.

This matters a lot. Legion , BFA and SL were no problems for me on launch day. Legion had a small queue but I don’t recall waiting more than ten minutes.
SL I logged right it and just played. Never had a crash my whole play session.
But who knows as someone that works in IT every major release of a system (I’m in healthcare IT) brings its own challenges.

It’s going to be an 8 hour long maintenance that is most likely going to be extended by another 3 or 4 hours. Then there will be lag, instability and instance issues for several hours.
It’s best to take the next day off if you really want to enjoy it, taking the release day itself isn’t worth it.

There isn’t an 8hr maintenance tomorrow.

The worst part is we’re traveling by boat. Historically this has not gone so well…

I imagine they will do like they did with WOTLK and put a portal on the docks if the boat is flipping out.

Ok, good thing I already ordered my exclusive login line skip from the Blizzard store yesterday.

Think long and hard. If you do not make significant progress on launch day you will likely never catch up throughout the expac.

There will be crashes. There will be Ques. It will be a poop show. But it will be an expansion launch. All of those parts, are kind of part of the experience. I hope is goes smooth and no issues, but I am planning on them happening.
My login skip is called: I am a house spouse and can make sure I am on hours ahead of time, lol.

Ok malformed night elf
Nah, it’s Stormwind. Well Stormwind and Goldshire. Stormwind has literally so many people jam packed, hanging out in Stormwind that the entire world server can’t take it.

i find it quite interesting that every single forum troll has their profile hidden. on the other hand it makes it easy to tell when someones a troll/trolling.
I won’t make a bet and I’ll even concede you may be right…but I don’t think so.
Well maintenance wise anyway, it’s plausible some servers may crash considering the global release (literally anyone in the world interested in this game and available to play will be trying to log in at the same time. ) , but we’ve had global launches before and my server was fine.
As for the time for maintenance well DF is already on our drives. They just need to “activate “ it for lack of better wording.
I believe the new class, new expansion, new talent trees, new professions are going to have a very high initial interest. Ques will be quite long
Having the entire server get into one boat/zeppelin seems like a bad idea to me, but what do I know.
In legion the quest to go to Dalaran didn’t pop for everyone at the same time. It was staggered by a few seconds/minutes, I thought that was interesting.
