There’s a huge difference between the content team and the systems design team (and no, the systems design team does a lot more than make “systems” - they’re also in charge of class design, game balance, itemization, etc.).
I have nothing but scorn for the systems design team, I think they’ve been screwing up for years.
The content team continues to knock it out of the park, though.
You know what will kill hype a lot more than yet another melee class?
An expansion that is thematically even weaker than what we have already. Bad writing.
Similar to how we got stabbed in the planet at the end of Legion then instead of continuing that story it was omglolwtfbbq faction war Naga and old gods.
I’m all up for a new class. If it’s interesting enough (mechanic with mech suit for example) I’d use it as my second main for sure. I said in another topic and someone said it here that 4th specs would also be awesome.
That’s cool that he has that opinion. I believe part of the reason Pandaren weren’t more accepted was their lack of customization, and their departure from appearance in artwork (fat, rotund goofballs over the lean, muscular badasses you see in some artwork).
In the end, the point is that MoP is still considered one of the best expansions WoW ever produced, and it had a new class.
My guess neither. Though the idea of Dragonborne is more likely but still FAR out of question. This is because right now, there’s already so many classes that Blizzard is better off adding specs to like Demon Hunters or anyone who doesn’t have a 4th spec right now. And even then, its farfetched. They have a utterly horrible balancing problem right now, they can’t be asked to make another class…
My guess is they’ll have a new race which rumored to be dragons, which ones? What aren’t? Who knows. Why? The foundations is already there, the main customization is using our currently playable races, including Allied Races. They just need to add horns, wings, w/e on them. A lot less work overall or at least I’d think it would be, I doubt it but I wouldn’t know… This also means they’re likely to be a Neutral Race despite their internal protests but given we have the start of Cross Factions, they’re the next race to truly give that new sense of social standard.
Just my BIG opinion and guesses though, I really don’t believe the class rumors at all honestly.
How many years to get that done? Been over 4 years since Demon Hunters came out. How’s the balance? Should we give em 4 more years to get there?
Surely the 17 year old classes are all perfectly balanced though, right?
Take bear tanks for example. Widely considered one of the most boring specs imaginable. And after the gutting they received after Legion, were sitting at being an F-Tier spec for Shadowlands (go back and look at the alpha & beta posts/vids) until they added an overpowered Legendary at the last minute in beta that’s been propping up the entire spec all expansion.
I’m one of many former bear tanks who now plays a different tank instead. Not because we didn’t like our bears, but because bears have been in an appalling state of non-development for years.
Even though I play a Brewmaster, I’d be MUCH happier if Monks had never existed and that work had gone into existing classes, instead.
So long as we have the MoP talents - that’s how it will always be lol. There’s always going to be the meta setup. I prefer they go back to talent trees even if they aren’t as exciting.
I personally can’t wait to join the Earthwarder’s led by Go’el! I think everyone forgot he took the job by the end of Cata. I can hear Aggra now…
The rest of the Aspects also basically lost their “Aspect” powers when they nuked Deathwing.
