While in combat, Xal’atath rains down orbs of cosmic energy that attempt to empower nearby enemies, increasing their Haste and Movement speed. If players disrupt these orbs, they claim this effect for themselves.
Since orbs will be “raining down”, does it mean players MUST knock back the mobs underneath those orbs or once again it’s the worded the wrong way and it plays out mechanically different in game?
Oh. Sounds like it might be the first real tank responsibility affix we’ve seen.
Perhaps the tank needs to pay attention and move mobs away before the orbs land giving dps and heals the time to intervene and intercept the orbs as they attempt to pursue mobs.
Sounds great to me if this is the case. Tanks need more fun things to do.
I’m assuming the orbs aren’t going to track enemies as they fall and will fall in a radius. If that’s the case the easiest and least confusing thing to do is going to be to move the pack. That way orbs land > dps intercept them and get a buff.
I seriously doubt that jumping or knockback is going to be meta.
Edit coming:
For all we know they may not fall over mobs at all and might just rain down and then proceed to chase in their “attempt to buff” the enemies. So this might end up being more of a DPS affix if they just rain down randomly.
yeah, probably no KB meta, but interested to see how the orbs spawn or fall. if it’s like the orbs from explosive…i wonder if the mobs will try and, run over them? or if they will be small soak-like mechanics. e.g., if no one is standing in them, when they ‘expire’ the mobs get the buff. BUT, if there’s a friendly player standing in the burst radius, the buff is stolen from the mobs and redirected to the party.
That could be cool, positioning would then be a factor for all players, not just tanks. So, maybe it’s less a tank affix? (all assuming that’s the ‘ordnance delivery method’)
Yeah I’m working on a lot of assumptions here and now that I’m thinking about it there are plenty of ways that this could end up as a whole party affix.
