Will Classic players ever be happy?

First things first I'm all for classic and most likely going to be quitting live when it comes out. That being said, all the tears on this forum are ridiculous! How long did everyone fight the good fight for classic servers to be a thing? 7 years? Now it has a $15 sub cost and everyone is crapping their pants. Did we really not see this coming?

Choose to be happy that classic is here. Instead of just constantly finding things to complain about.
No, they’ll never be
Don't listen to them. The ones complaining are the players that don't care about classic but only care about free gaming. Yes I had some of them admit this fact.
They will jump to another private server or some free game once classic hits, they were never the target audience.
You wanted no changes right? Well paid subscription is a #nochange.
Forum dramatics not equal to classic players in general...
I am completely fine with a sub fee to play. However I believe I speak for most Vanilla WoW enthusiasts when I say I will not be satisfied until Blizzard stops trying to introduce modern mechanics and conveniences into our beloved original game.
I think you mischaracterize the community when you say "everyone's crapping their pants". It's a tiny minority of entitle morons whom somehow expect for a MMO with continued support to not require a sub cost. A sub cost that was actually worth closer to 20 dollars today after 15 years of inflation. Yet Blizzard is going to give us the game again at the deflated value of 15 dollars and a promise of no cash shop. Very good, all things considered.

So lets all do ourselves and the Classic community a favor and ignore the idiots.
Hopefully they're all true to their word and quit :)
No because no decision will please everyone. Even if No Changes were implemented 100%, people will disagree on item progression, content progression, etc.

What's important to someone is less important to someone else (modern vs old AV for example, sharding at launch vs no sharding whatsover).

For me, as long as it's 95% similar to Classic with proper item progression implemented, I'll be happy. Some people will scream if it's not 100% like Vanilla and they will never be happy.
Once we get vanilla, no gtfo rats.
This is just a brigading attack. An irrelevant youtuber has been pushing this with his followers.
He was even pushing the down voting of the Diablo video. Which was a pretty good looking video.
The sheep just do as they are told.
Look at how ridiculous the effort to get a classic only sub is. "We won't support retail".
When did consumers get to start telling companies what they spend their profits on?
You are supporting blizzard and ALL of her endeavors with ANY transaction you make with them.
Know why it's called the bottom line?
Dumb asses.<<<< Is it toxic if it's true?

Does his name start with "Alex" and end with "sensual"?
I am extremely happy with how classic is coming along. Can't wait until summer :D

not sure which one you are referring to, but a rather larger one supports combined subs.
Only a small minority don't like the $15 sub. I'm not crazy about spending $15/mo but I realize it will
1) help bring retail players to Classic, and thriving Classic servers are a very important thing
2) help WoW continue to survive
3) provide quality support
4) filter out some cheap, toxic, racist people which free private servers were known for having
If they adjust some values, take out sharding then yes, I'll be totally fine and extremely happy.

When I say adjust values I mean making the 200% crit go away etc... not any balancing
Make vanilla, release it, charge for it, majority happy.

Call it vanilla, add stuff that ruined retail, charge for it, newp not gonna be happy
nope, because there isn't one kind of Classic player
I'm fine with the $15 per month sub. I would have liked it separate from retail, but I was expecting it like this anyway. No problems.
If Blizz delivers a reasonably authentic vanilla experience, which they claim is the goal, then I'll be happy. I don't care if every blade of grass is accurately placed, I won't scream bloody murder if they tweak some mob numbers, item values, etc.. I recognize that 1.12 really was different from the 1.6-1.11 era (the majority of my raiding experience as I only started a few days before 1.4) so numbers should probably be adjusted to make a more representative of vanilla version. If they don't, fine, it will still be better than live.

That said, if they #$^@ it up with QoL and other bs from more modern versions then no, I won't be happy, and they won't see another dime from me. On the two most recent issues, I'm ok with item trading with fairly stiff limitations (2 hours on anything is too long, letting people roll need on stuff they can't actually use to trade, and so on). I'm not hugely concerned though as I expect the vast majority of groups, especially in higher level content, will be using ml for blue+ anyway. OTOH, the idea of sharding anything in Classic needs to die in a fire.
No changes will make them happy. Not very complicated.
