I expect them to start doing something similar to what EverQuest has done.

Start over, do a regular rotation. Or throw in a classic with a slight twist.

I haven’t checked recently, but EverQuest seemed to have a new classic type server starting up every year.

I was hoping they’d skip Cata and go straight to MoP. That’s where I would get into classic.

This is when I took a very long break from the game all the way through to Legion so I never experienced it.

Then again, I tried to play classic vanilla when it dropped, but didn’t make it passed level 35 or something.

Not much point. Cata veers too closely to “modern formula” WoW, with one of the primary differentiators (Azeroth minus explosions and depression) no longer being there.

It’d be better to stop with WotLK for “original” Classics and instead make Classic into an “alternate history” version of WoW, e.g. “what if we kept making expansions with the WotLK formula”, “what if the expansion following WotLK wasn’t Cataclysm”, etc.

Question is, why? Cataclysm changed the world but the changes are still there in the regular version. If you want to play Cataclysm just create a new toon and go talk to Chromie.
