Will BfA pull a WoD?

lol, no. Of course not.

The current plan from the looks of things is fix the azerite stuff as much as possible in 8.2, then just carry on. The next expac will undoubtedly be announced at blizzcon, and then would probably be the better part of a year until it launches. So of course they’re going to have another major patch. Otherwise it’d be like a year and a half of 8.2. The game would die.

Besides which, I really don’t get the impression that most players are as aggressively against BfA as the forums would suggest. Not to say that azerite isn’t crappy. But in game most people seem to be more in the mindset of “Ugh, this is pretty lame. Oh well, back to it.” than “Rawr, let’s flip cars!”.

What is the fix? Azerite is underwhelming as a reward because what it unlocks is underwhelming. Essences still require grinding Azerite to unlock minor effects, require grinding content to get the Essences, and add an extra generic ability that isn’t tied into specialization rotations or mechanics.

Unlocking an Artifact ability that your specific specialization was designed around felt good. Getting an extra button instead of meaningful specialization changes won’t feel the same. Wouldn’t you rather have the damage or mitigation applied to core components of your spec?

Yeah the essences thing. I think I remember them also saying something about massively reducing the level required for the armor traits, so they’re basically automatic. Or something like that. Like I said; “as much as possible”.

Did it? What was so good about it? To me it felt more like finally getting an important missing piece of my spec. Not getting a lovely cherry on top. What I would rather is they go back to just making all our abilities plain old class abilities. No more gimmicky items. Which I have a feeling will be the plan in the next expansion.

Is it poorly received though?

People complained before the 8.1 patch came out. But once it was released complaints have been pretty quiet.

Comments on the forums aren’t really a great barometer for success.

There are plenty of people playing on my server. I’m not sure it’s doing poorly at all.

gcd must die…

Its making alts expensive lol. Some classes you run, not walk, to a mailbox, ship an alt some gold and buy anything that says haste in the AH by level 2. Because this gear is sparse as hell leveling.

Only haste seems to cure this ill. Been good gains on some alts…once I stopped being a cheap butt.

I know some will say I didn’t need it. Cool…if you like staring at the action bar all night to do something.

I dont think they will call it. They want to sell blizzcon tickets and announce expansion there. Of course they may not do much but they wont admit theyve mailed it in until november or whenever it is.

Extremely unlikely. They do it again they lose a lot more fans. They aren’t stupid.

Hopefully moving forward Blizzard will learn. If 9.0 is poorly received in any way I hope they scrap all further content for that expansion. Leave us with the broken launch, one raid tier, incomplete story for the next two to three years. I think we can all agree that the best time in WoD was after they stopped trying to pretend we wanted more WoD. The content drought was always preferred to more content.

I would legit come back if they implemented just individual class stories.

Islands I go back and forth on almost every time I play whether I like them or not.

Warfronts yeah are a flop.

I know it’s because I’m a Shadow Priest but I hated WoD’s iteration of Shadow. DoTweaving was trash.

I don’t think BfA is as reviled as GD, and the OP, would like to think it is.

I still see a ton of players when I log on. Even as DPS, my queues are super fast. 6-8 minutes tops. Can barely complete a couple WQs in that time.

IF this is true, then you simply have amazing queue luck - provided your claim is of you queueing solo, and not with a tank/healer friend(s) at any time - and it’s more than once or twice a day.
I will admit, however, queue times now are far better than those many yrs ago for DPS, that should go without saying. I also will agree that I see many players day in day out, but I’m also on the largest server for Alli US…I do not get that same DPS queue you have and I main DPS. lol

At least WoD had classes that were far more fun. Only defense I have for the expac.

got me there, I only queue for 1 or 2 a night. It’s all the time I can spare.

But always solo. I don’t have a friends list or a guild. But by comparison, it was always 20+ minutes in Legion regardless of frequency.

Weren’t you just praising Ion and team?

Make up your mind… are you a shrill or a detractor?

I agree!

I don’t usually play during peak times on my server, but when I do… it is packed. And my server is a Medium sized server, if that means anything anymore.

I do not feel many players like myself will be coming back. Unless we see some major game changes to a more BC-MOP style of core game play, to include flying at max level. I know I will not be pre buying the next expansion. I instead will check out PTR play first to see if they brought back, and expanded on much of what they removed that made the game great.

While I think that you “feel” that way now… with the perpetual hope that WoW players always exhibit (which is a good thing), I think just as many people will come back at the beginning of the next xpac just for the story alone.

yes, you aren’t happy now. But hope springs eternal when it comes to WoW and expansions! My money is on you coming back.

Well then you would lose. Could care less about the story. I really do not play Wow about story. I play it more for PVP, and Pve content and character game play. I am not a roleplay story fan boy, when it comes to RPGs.

You may have misunderstood… I am not talking about some Role playing story, but the main quest lines and cut scenes. The development of the WoW universe. The struggle between good and evil. We always want to experience this for ourselves. The beginning of an xpac is ALWAYS the best part! You won’t miss it.
