Will another warcraft movie come out?

Warcraft was great movie to watch. I watched it like 9 times . I wonder if anyone has any information of another Warcraft movie being recorded?

I haven’t heard any news.

When it first came out I didn’t care for it. Thought they tried to do too much with too little time.

In the past few months I watched it a few more times because my kids started playing and showed an interest and I have to say my first assessment was wrong.

I would love to see another one.

It lost money. Why would they make another?

no. it flopped really hard.

the storyline was messy, they should’ve just done arthas

and the actors were pretty bad tbh

It only did well in Europe.

It didn’t flop hard. It barely crossed even. Which means no sequel since most sequels usually make less due to diminishing returns.

Also, another movie with Arthas will flop. Everyone will call him discount Anakin and Game of Thrones rip off.

I thought it was ok, not great, but not horrible.
Personally I’d love to see a movie or an hour short or many shorts in the same style as the cinematics we get for each new expansion. I’d buy those on dvd or digital in a heartbeat.

No movie, but depending on how Witcher does on Netflix there might be some interest in a series. Which would work MUCH better. Warcraft isn’t good for movies. Starcraft though, I’d watch the hell out of that movie. How glorious would a fleet of battlecruisers would look in IMAX?

That’s exactly why it won’t have a sequel.

According to that it was 20 million away from breaking even, which isn’t considered a “flop”. More like “failed to meet expectations”. With merchandise it probably put everyone in the even.

While it wasn’t the greatest film, It did make the money it needed to make to allow for a sequel, so I don’t see why not.

What it lacked in choosing the story, it more than made up for it with its’ CGI, the Orcs looked phenomenal and world looked beautiful.

I just really wish they went with a more interesting story, while I understand that they need to show the beginning for people to understand the world better, Orcs vs. Humans is the most generic story they could have went with.

They should have went with Thralls upbringing or Arthas’s turn to darkness. Both being vastly superior stories and give better insight on what WC is really about.

I liked it as a WoW fan. Could have been much worse.

Don’t think another one is coming down the pipe though.

A Starcraft Netflix or Amazon series, with a massive CGI budget? Sign me up.

No it didn’t, it cost 160 million to make and made around 440 million in the global box office.

This is the only way it’s going to work.

Forget a movie. Make it a series and either CGI or Animation. Either will do.

In July 2016, the magazine reported the film lost the studio around $15 million, although noted several executives put the losses in the $30–40 million range.

You aren’t accounting for advertising/marketing costs which normally go above movie budgets.

The movie did really well in China, but not domestically. I think as a WoW fan, the movie was very enjoyable, as there are so many game a world references only a fan can get.

However, it appears for non-fans, the story doesn’t hold up. Which doesn’t surprise me. They tried to do too much in too little time, the story was harder to follow, the acting was decent at best. For those not invested in the Warcraft lore, it just didn’t hold up.

Which would imply a sequel is not feasible. Unless they can find a way to make the movie super enjoyable for the uninitiated (like LotR did) I can’t see any movie studio willing to risk money on it.
