In the intro to the Darkshore Warfront Anduin vowed he would Recover Teldrassil before the war was over.

At the time he made the promise, Teldrassil wasn’t a lump of smoking ash. Hardly anyone Alliance side or Horde side, expected the Tree to be burned to the waterline.
