They’ve been separated from the Bronzebeards just as long as the Dark Irons were. And the Dark Irons didn’t look all that different until they got their Allied Race face lift.
The one thing they can say on this is that the DID did get changed by Ragnaros directly over time. Put more fire in em, though they were always somewhat that way.
Honestly though its reasonable to think that the Wildhammer may have changed over that same timeframe simply since they spent most of their time above ground. Earthen are highly mutable and the Dwarves show that they are as well.
Yeah, but looking at the Wowpedia entry to Wildhammers, and they’re described as being “taller, leaner, and wilder” in comparison to Bronzebeards. So there was some room for more diversified appearance if Blizz had gone the Allied Race route with them.
Per WoWpedia, Wildhammer Dwarves are taller.
Thats true. And again their long time out and about on the surface could be argued to give them some differences to their racials overall.
I think its quite justified.

They’re not shaman things. They’re forged weapons.
Represented in-game as Shamans.
A hammer isn’t a whole class dude. Shaman was added to represent the class they had that the Bronzebeard dwarves didn’t. The Wildhammer taught them how to be Shaman. Thats not what makes their stormhammers. Which every Wildhammer earns and uses.
Moot anyways since mage and warlock were the DID addition and they got an AR.
Excited to see that Entropic might have options.
Maybe they’ll do something to make Wildhammer more like Wildhammer with a modified racial system for those races that have other sub groups.
Prior to being made ARs Dark Irons were just an outcast dwarf clan and Kul’Tirans were just a seafaring human nation.
As someone who has wanted Wildhammers since release, I’d have to say I can go either way.
Sure, it would be great to have dwarf druids, but I think just adding the Wildhammer appearances is enough. (And I can’t wait to give this gal hers!)

The appearances are great and all but they don’t do Wildhammer justice. They really would have different racials and such.
Glad you will enjoy it though! Stop by after and show off your toon!
I actually will be making a Wildhammer based off this stuff. Race change later if I get my way and they become an AR.
My big hope is that they do something where you can choose the racials along with the tatts and such.
I don’t have it (Falfalst is my alt, I was just excited to post about it) but I saw it in the High Elf Positivity Thread or the Customization announcement thread blizz tossed out.
blizz couldn’t even think of different racials for the first set of dwarves idk I think your idea is cool on paper but lets say blizzard only releases ten allied races for each faction and then does away with that system or wow ends I would really prefer to have something totally different than another elf troll or dwarf. Are dwarves even a popularly played race in retail? I hardly see them anymore. If their numbers are low I doubly doubt they would do this.
You mean between the DID and Bronzebeard Dwarves? I think they did all right.
They’ve actually got a lot of character for how similar the Active racial is.
Since Wildhammer are synonymous with their Stormhammers I suspect the active for them would be those though and the “stoneform” would be relegated to a lesser version that still does sorta the same thing. (Outlined in main post. You may have seen it).
A fair clop. I understand that sentiment.
How about the compromise idea where they allow Bronzebeard Dwarves to select a Wildhammer set of racials instead? I.E. they keep with this customization addition but let you select racials as well that would shift you to a more proper Wildhammer?
They could go all out and add in extra emote voice lines to make it even more solid. Maybe another Heritage set that could be unlocked and even add in the special gryphon mount too. (Lofty ideals I know)
They’re not that bad off on the Alliance side charts. You’re right they’re not the most populous though. The compromise above would maybe ease your thoughts on this?
I am going to ask you a very simple yes or no question and how you answer it will tell me everything I need to know. My most requested race to be added in the game would be Vrykul. Now, since the likelihood of them ever being a playable race is a very, very slim chance at best, if Blizzard, say tomorrow, showed off more human customization and included Vrykul Tattoos would be an option to use on my character, would you think that I am a Vrykul just because I could use their tattoos? or would it be still be just a human, just with Vrykul themed tattoos?
they are not the same group yes, but they are the same race nevertheless
“dwarf” should englobe all the dwarves sub-types who are not an subrace, like dark iron and that ice dwarf
ice dwarf would make way more sense as an alliance race
Dark iron were changed by the power of ragnaros, they already had flaming hair and beards and that is a more visual and racial difference than just tattoos and hairsttyles than can be included in the dwarf general race.
Race doesn’t really matter. Its factional more than anything.
Mag’har and Highmountain have as much difference with their parent race as the Wildhammer do.
Wildhammer are taller, generally tanner, and have their tattoos and such to denote them. Their culture is entirely different and does not fit within the Bronzebeard Dwarf.
And again a proper Wildhammer dwarf would have different racials that better represent what they are.
I respect that you disagree.
Nothing currently gives me reason to reconsider my stance that they should be an AR.
I also outline a possible compromise in the OP.
I actually agree that the Frostborn would make a good AR as well. We have much less lore available to figure on what exactly that would end up looking like but I think there is enough there for it.
Lets face it that’d be cool. (pun intended)
Fiddled to see what I might make my Wildhammer look like. Looks good. They just need to do something for the racials.

I totally feel Wildhammer Dwarves should be an AR for the Alliance. I would roll WH Shaman and WH Druid quickly.
I’d make at least a WH Druid myself. Love druids. Such a fun class to play for me.
I’d probably also make a warrior… and a shaman… and a hunter… I really like Wildhammer. lol
