I was doing the PvP quests in the desert zone today. For hours the Horde was vastly outnumbered. I logged onto my Alliance toon repeatedly to check, and even with way more players, Alliance had the +20% bonus rewards buff.
For nearly five hours Alliance had the buff even when it was clearly evident they outnumbered the Horde by a large degree.
My issue here isn’t whether Horde or Alliance are getting shafted. My issue is that the bonus rewards system doesn’t work like it is supposed to at all.
What I’m saying is that the OP is full of bs. Pvp servers eliminated to hurt raiders? Yeah, sure
Delusional? Troll? Wannabe sleazeball politician? You decide.
What Ion H. very clearly said back in the 2017 Blizzcon is they wanted BfA to have wpvp rewards and content that were accessible to everyone and they couldn’t do it with having separate pvp and pve servers, thus warmode. Blizz has never deviated from that explanation.
Love or hate warmode there is no denying that the end result fulfilled the declared intent. You can argue that it did so poorly but that’s that.
I don’t see how having servers that prevent you from opting out of PvP (PvP servers) would prevent people from receiving WPvP rewards, though. PvE servers already had the option of turning PvP on and off, so WM wasn’t necessary for everyone.
Odd I have the opposite view, why would I turn on WM for what amounts to 20 war resources per WQ? And gold? Blizz sells that so if you want it there it is. Also its not like the leveling process takes any time even with WM off.
I think Blizz deleted pvp servers and joined a bunch of servers to hide/deal with their rapidly shrinking player base.
If the reason for warmode is to wpvp by ‘choice’, then you should not get PVE rewards for doing so, i.e. experience gains and quest rewards. These gains make it feel more ‘mandatory’ to non-pvpers if they want to level faster, and this is wrong. I agree with the OP, pvp servers had their place. The playerbase on those servers knew what they were getting into, and accepted it. And they didn’t get any ‘rewards’ for doing wpvp other than the joy of killing someone less capable than themselves. If Blizzard feels they need to bribe players to turn warmode on, then it doesn’t feel like choice by design.
Between Horde whining there was nobody to gank, to Horde whining over a piece of 385 (?) gear, to Horde whining about War Mode in general, that’s a lot of whining.
Look, if you don’t want to get ganked by “ROVING BANDS OPF 300 ALLIANCE!!!”, then turn WM off.
How about some of us are tired of hearing wpvp is dead because “reasons”. The entire reason for warmode was ro combat the wpvp problems on PvP servers.
However on that same note, the only rewards you should be getting is guaranteed wpvp with people of your appropriate level in my opinion. I’m sick of hearing about ganking because of high level players.
Half the problem of having WM on is because of sharding. You don’t see all the people on your server, only those with WM on, and then do you see everyone? I think not. So you cannot truly see the scope of the pvp battle that is taking place. Having servers before sharding you could really get a feel for how large the population on your server was, and you could witness the pvp going on on non-pvp servers and choose to join in if you wished. Horde ganking Stormwind? Toggle on pvp and join in! We will never experience that again with the sharding of servers.
I very rarely pvp and I honestly can’t remember the last time I got involved in world pvp, so I don’t have a dog in this fight.
My opinion is just based on what I read here.
I left briefly after Legion launched and there were still pvp servers. I came back just as BFA launched and there were just servers. Why they changed it I don’t know.
Players should turn warmode on for the sole purpose of inviting and engaging in world PvP.
The buffs encourage players to turn warmode on for other reasons (leveling, mainly). And then they complain on the forums that they got camped by a max level character. It’s so stupid, I could scream.
So the solution was to make everyone the same type of server and then give people a toggle? I guess it would have worked if there were enough people willing to do it.
Then again if that was the case we would be discussing it.
