Why you should let employees work from home

I think they should have a blended schedule personally. Total WFH starves collaboration. Can they do that virtually? To some degree yes, but free flowing ideas are best in person. They did develop tools to WFH during covid and should continue to utilize them.

Anyone who supports this is evil, plain and simple.

Man the bar for being evil is real low these days

And you managed to overflow that bar.

Well I do aim to overachieve.

If you use a burndown chart* you can see if the work is getting done and if there are inconsistencies. Look for the inconsistencies and find out why someone isn’t getting the work done they are accountable for.

* Tried to link to what a burndown chart is but WoW forums won’t let me link.

Evil? Interesting

As long as their work is done why does it matter?

The job market has cooled . In the IT field it has collapsed . People are going to office if they are asked to go.

Personally I never liked WFH and my team is back to a 3 day office , 2 day WFH split . This is what we had before Covid and works really well .

There are issues with onboarding . It’s very very hard to train new people with WFH. It’s not possible to build personal relationships which have intangible benefits to output with people always being at home

Man it was so nice around here without seeing that name for so long. Some forum breaks should be permanent.

Which one?

Grow up and get help with your unhinged need to attack me and like any post that disagrees with me. Then again, that might be hard for someone with your vile takes and attitude. Not surprised to see you hate workers and shill for big corporations.

Yeah or at least they have serious problems, like certain 40-year-old Blizzard shills who feel the need to constantly attack people over video games cosmetics and think it’s okay for so many workers to lose their jobs for no reason.

I honestly believe blizzard has a mindset that they can hire cheap foreign workers and expect a product filled with care and attention to detail.
Just look at this xpac for example, its STILL full of bugs that haven’t been corrected! to me it feels like the company is hanging on by a thread.

I don’t care where they work as long as they are working. That said, those who moved without getting confirmation that RTO might eventually be a thing brought it on themselves.

You’ve obviously never worked for a software company. No matter how good a developer is, it takes a lot of time to get up to speed with new software and tools.

In this day and age more are working from home and thats ok.
BUT
the EMPLOYER makes the rules for their company, NOT the employee.
That said, if the employer cant keep employees happy, they can just go find another job.
Both sides need to work together instead of being obstinate.

If people were actually doing a better job working from home these companies wouldnt be pushing for RTO. Its really that simple.

Their games might suffer as a result of this in the short term, sure. Long term they will be making better products once the offices are full of people who actually want to be there.

I hope you’re right Lext all I can say.

They’re not. This person, for example has lost their job due to RTO, after putting in their heart and soul into the product.

And, I remind people here, Blizzard employees who don’t live in California were hired with the expectation of working from home. Blizzard cut them out for NO REASON.
